To be clear he wasn't directly responsible, his entire gang was responsible for their irresponsible behavior.
I would agree. I struggled when I saw the carnage in the beginning and was even less sympathetic with the main characters when it became personal. The beginning scene seemed to indicate the death of 10 to 12 people, all directly or indirectly caused by the main characters. Not sure why they intended this for a comedy when the undertone is the death of innocent lives.
