Was under the impression this was look back on early nerd adopters of computer programming. What we got (I think) was mixture of pre-computer revolution mixed in with really really bad staged scenes with swingers. How random.
shareThe intention is not random, the film is contrasting the rational (life is like a chess game, with rules that can be written down or programmed into a computer) vs the emotional / spiritual (life is about the interactions between people, which can't easily be understood and which don't always make 'sense')
Plus the movie has loads of brilliantly observed comedy which makes the intellectual journey very enjoyable
