Set in the 1960's?

Ok, this is really bothering me (besides thinking of SNL every time Billy Ray is on screen LOL). The pictures of San Francisco, the hospital, the pay phones (dial vs rotary), and the fashions of people walking by - all of them aren't set in the 1960's. You'd think they'd try a little.

And answering machines in the 1960's cost $500. What were they thinking when they threw this poor movie together?

I know this is little, but it bugged me. In the scene where the daughter got the mail, getting her application for the University, the addresses were typed on her letter. But at least one of the other letters in her hand had a stick on pre-printed name label. I'm pretty certain those weren't around in the 60's.

It was set in the mid to late '70's. The 1960's part was just at the beginning when they took in as a foster son, Rodney.

The early scenes in the hospital feature a TV playing a Jimmy Carter speech. That sets the time frame as somewhere between 1977–1981.
