Questions re: finale (it's and I am so sad)

Just finished the last episode and loved it, especially the last few minutes with the updates - so happy for Andres and Maite, happy to see Javier a daddy, and the hotel up and running again and of course scene with Julio and Alicia leaving had me in tears.

I do have a couple of questions:

How did Diego missing shooting Samuel on the beach (did Samuel put blanks in the gun, didn't see it though) - I felt bad for Diego even though he was so sinister. GREAT actor Pedro Alonso. Love you...

Did Father Grau leave town?

I guess Alfredo never finds out that Sofia killed Beatriz? And she never finds out he switched the babies.

And Andres never finds out that his Jacinto is being raised by Sofia and is not dead.

Samuel gets away with murder, so does Dona Teresa for having the woman killed in order to get control of the hotel. But she did change for the better and I did like her at the end.

So many open ended questions.

But I truly will miss it.

Just finished watching it as well.

Not sure what you mean by Andres and Jacinto. Belén had twins (fathered by Diego), Alejandro and Juan; Juan was looked after by Andres and Belén but later died, Alejandro was given to Sofia at birth. Belén briefly switched them after Juan's death but was quickly discovered.

One question to add:

What happened to Bazán? He works with Ayala to catch Belén - so is he now free? He didn't appear to be under much supervision. After all, he's still guilty of killing the prostitute in cold blood and mutilating her body. Belén may have been behind it all, but he did the dirty work.

Sorry I meant Juanito - really have think twice about those twins but Sofia never found out Alfredo took Juanito and said it was Alejandro. But the little scratch would have made her realize.

I would think that Bazan would want to help out of revenge against Belen as he took the rap for both of them. He got satisfaction but still went to prison.

reply

Alfredo didn't take Juanito and say it was Alejandro.

After Juan died, Belén swapped Juan and Alejandro in an attempt to convince Sofia and Alfredo that Alejandro had died. But Alfredo realised that the dead baby didn't have the scratch, and followed Belén back to her room to find Alejandro alive and well.

So Belén swapped them, but Alfredo swapped them back.

Yes, sorry I got confused.

I loved the show so much I already miss it.
The finale was great and wish there was a season 4.

I am going to watch Velvet next as some of the stars from Grand Hotel are in it.

Sofia gets away with two murders.. she killed Cristina, and Beatriz. And Teresa gets away with the murder of that woman who wanted to buy the hotel.. The only people who appear to pay for their crimes are Diego and Benjamin.. everyone else gets off scot free.

reply

yeah the alarcons sure got away with murder. every single one of them is a criminal. even alicia was accessory to murder and javier dealt drugs.

really none of them really deserved a happy ending.

I don't recall Alicia doing anything all that terrible. She lied sometimes, but murder? No. Let's face it, the whole thing was terribly far-fetched, but it was done so well, you couldn't help but love it. LOL I think I've watched it through over a dozen times now, as it's a great Spanish teacher. I've been going through each episode one at a time, first with English subtitles and then with Spanish subtitles, not that they always help since they talk so freaking fast. But I'm always learning new words and expressions this way, plus reinforcing what I've learned in my studies, so it's great.

alicia was accessory to murder which is very very bad and illegal. she knew her sister killed that girl and tampered with evidence to conceal it. that's extremely bad no matter how you flip it.

reply

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. LOL Well, the outrageousness of the plot still couldn't detract from my enjoyment of the show just from a visual and audio perspective. I loved the music, the settings, the costumes, and the variety of characters, all of whom I felt I knew, and some of them I wished I didn't. 😛
