I don't understand how it could be so hot (90-95+ F) that deep in the mountain? Is there lava deeper down or something? Forgive my ignorance!

I'm assuming the deeper you go the hotter it gets cause your heading towards the center of the planet. Plus we don't know how much ventilation is in there

Do a search for geothermal gradient. The first few hundred feet are cooler and then it gets hot.
