No, but his physiology was altered by the Librarian's Forerunner upgrade that he underwent. And didn't Cortana note that his biometrics were off the chart immediately after when he reconnected with her? And did he not survive the Didact's devastating blasty weapon dealie that vaporized everyone during the heist of the Artifact? Why yes he did. So what's a little puny ground zero fission explosion gonna do to him. Pfft.
Yeah we know what shielded him from the blast in general but the problem most people have is the nuke was in his hands as he activated it.
shareI don't know, Cortana seemed to have a plan and she is an AI so maybe she is just really fast. I also wouldn't put it past her to have delayed that explosion just enough to teleport Chief to safety.

Hell, he has an energy shield around him anyway...one that is generated by his armor...Cortan might have 'merged' it with the light bridge/shield thing and saved him that way.

Well if 26th Century nukes are anything like 20th century nukes the explosion isn't instantaneous from the point that the charge is being detonated. There is a chain reaction leading to fusion reaction with its atomic core. Its just a few seconds still but its not exactly instantaneous.

Let's be honest: it was just dumb. Sure it was great thematically to have that weird moment happen, but it made no sense and is the definition of a deus ex machina. Luckily, most people aren't that focused on the story in Halo games, but really play them for the gameplay and multiplayer.
