Series 3 So Far ... Warning Spoilers Lie Ahead

Series 3 imho has to be the worst series so far, the first two were genius, well written and funny. The writers seems to have lost their way and/or have ran out of steam.

I just knew this was a mistake having Kieran leave after his marriage break up, this left the butcher counter a man down, Andy and Kieran bounced off of one another and taking Kieran away from this equasion was bound to leave this dynamic feeling rather empty, no surprise that after only a few or so episodes, Andy himself has now left. But lets back up a mo.

Bad writing is afoot, Andy if we have learnt anything about this character is a stalwart, a matriarch, he tends to get cold feet and not jump into decisions as quickly as this. Plus he is the mortar of Valco having served a long time in that store.

They had Kieran leaving the store for a while so Kieran could find himself. Again a bad decision as it broke up one of the key elements of the show which was the value of friendship, the broke up this strong team, even with Margaret they could bounce off her, this leaves Margaret at somewhat of a loose end.

And what happened to the bakery counter woman Sharon, she has vanished with no word of why she disappeared or where she went. Another character that now becomes redundant because she was Andy's nemesis, the rival.

The new addition to the cast Richard France is pointless annoying and brings nothing to the show, yes sure in the Series 3 trailer he seems edgy fun and like he could be interesting but that all becomes very stale very quickly once you have had him for more than 3 episodes.

My 2pence worth, what do yo all think of series 3.

I see round the forums that Series 3 is being torn apart, I do agree something has went sour, this show was fantastic the last 2 years but this series just is not Trollied anymore, not the Trollied we all knew and loved

Has andy and Kieron left for good do you know? They were my faves. Seems like they trying to mix it up with new characters but the new ones this series are just annoying. Definitely gone down hill in my book but will keep watching in hope that it gets better.

ugh. two episodes after Mark left it's gotten worse.
I figured the next ep was a gimme, as they would try to re-situate themselves, but no.
I know Colin was a no-show, but was Katie missing, too?
NOT liking the new "counter team" of Dave and Ray. they're definitely not Andy & Keiran. no chemistry at all.

What I want to see happen in the final episode:
Gavin dumps whatserface and fires her for whatever inane stunt she's pulled now.

Hulie- sorry, *J*ulie jumps at this quite literally, snapping once again and giving the bimbo a piece of her mind. Gavin tries to break it up, but Julie suddenly kisses him in the heat of passion. Blondie is dumbstruck and leaves in a huff, breaking up with Gavin. "But I already dumped you!" he declares. "and fired you, too!" Julie screams.

Dick France catches the end of the fight and immediately wants to put in a "Foxy boxing" ring in the store. Gavin and Julie share a glance, then DOUBLE WHAMMY! cut to Ian throwing the dweeb out as Gavin yells "and stay out!"

Neville is just coming in to work and runs into bimbo, she decides to take him with her, wherever she's going. Dickwad invites himself along. We never see them again.

The fight has gotten Lisa hot and bothered, so she looks around for Colin, but he still hasn't returned. She settles for Leighton and drags him into the backroom, he's protesting all the way.

Hilarity ensues as Lisa tries to light a cigarette after, only to accidentally drop it and start a fire. By this time, the construction crew has cut the emergency alarms, and no one realizes what's happening as Lisa has run back to her checker line, leaving a distraught Leighton to try and put out the fire without an extinguisher.

Leighton runs to Gavin, but he's still huffed up from throwing out the two losers, he doesn't have time for Leighton's nonsense. The only ones to listen to him are Dave and Ray, who quickly realize they need to evacuate. With no alarm, Dave talks a protesting Ray into pretending he's got a bomb to scare the customers out. By this time, smoke is in the shopping area and someone has called 999.

The customers all make a mad dash, nearly running down Margaret and Katie. Ian manages to escort them out by charging thru the crowd, making a path for the ladies. Everybody else makes it out except for Gavin and Julie, who are finally getting it on in his office, oblivious to the danger.

Outside, several customers point out Ray as a "terrorist", and he's arrested along with Dave. Andy and Keiran just happen to stop by to visit and find the disaster. They meet up with Ian and the girls to commiserate.

No one realizes that Gavin & Julie are nowhere to be found until the firefighters burst in the office and find them in flagrante delicioso. Gavin exits the office to find half the store burnt out and has a heart attack. This causes Julie to lose her mind again at the thought of losing Gavin now that they've finally found each other.

The firefighters bring out a third body and people assume it's Leighton, who got lost in the panic. It turns out to be the old scooter man customer, who also had a heart attack and died.

as Katie, Margaret and the boys watch from the sidelines, Katie and Kieran finally admit they love each other and agree to start dating. Andy finagles it into a double-date with Margaret and then invites Ian and his husband along. Margaret then slips at seeing the scooter man's body and tearfully reveals "my Alan died three years ago", and she only took the job to get out of the house and meet people. The others are stunned, but give her a group hug.

Over the closing credits, we see newspaper pictures of the double wedding of Katie & Kieran and Andy & Margaret. the credits are made up in the style of wedding invites. A sidenote article reveals that the fire was blamed on the workmen.

end scene: Leighton stumbles out of the fire wreckage, missing a wedge of his afro. "I should have stayed in IT like my mum wanted me to." He pulls out his mobile: "Hello cousin Moss? Do you have any openings? I seem to be out of a job at the moment."

yeah, it's a bit dark, but absurd.

I agree with your post. I loved the first two series - they had the dynamics just right. It's obvious that having both Kieran and Andy leave was bad for the show. Their scenes were always amongst the most fun to watch. I don't mind the addition of Richard France so much, despite him being one of the most annoying blokes alive, LOL, but it keeps Gavin wound up which brings some humour, I think. Not liking his girlfriend Anna though - I like Elizabeth Bower who plays her but I find her attempt of a Spanish accent too self-conscious and clunky and if I have to hear her say "Hulie" one more time, aaargh!

Altogether, it feels like a much lesser series than the previous two.

Oh wow. Richard France is the worst character ever. He's unfunny and annoying and really makes the show bad. I want to give up on the show because it's gone from one of my favourite shows (series 1 & 2) to a show I can hardly stand. Anna also is really annoying. Losing Kieran and Andy was the worst thing to happen. I've got a couple of eps left but I hate that Gavin just keeps 'losing' it's not enjoyable.
