Cindy - Dumbest Charecter Ever???

How many times is she going to leave protective police custody and almost get killed before she stops doing it?

I get that she has trust issues, but every time she leaves and goes to her pimp's place or the strip club somebody is there to kill her.

Even a drugged out hooker with trust issues has to get that pattern, right?

OMG, stay the F@&K where the police out you, d-u-m-b-a-s-s!!!

Remember she only just turned 18 at the time. Between being kidnapped raped and almost murdered, roped into a decades-spanning police investigation, pursued by her rapist who clearly wants to kill her, and to top it off recently brought on to hard drugs...I'd say her erratic behavior was understandable, no matter how self-destructive.

And that's before you account for how wary and mistrustful she probably was before any of that, as a result of her *beep* childhood and being a prostitute from the 6th grade.

It's not that far outside the realm of possibility that she would respond/react the way she did. She is basically a child thrown into an adult world prematurely and having to learn things the hard way. I know people way older than she is who still haven't figured out the bad patterns in their own lives and they oftentimes bring children into their dramatic and traumatic lives. People do the best they can with what they have and hope for the best. Nobody wakes up thinking "I think I'll do my best to make the dumbest decisions ever!" At least, MOST people don't set out with that plan.

I agree, the film had it happen perhaps once too many times.

When she left Jack's house after overhearing his wife wanting her out, that's one thing.

But the second time (when she left the hospital) felt tacked on and seemed as if it was only included to ratchet up the tension.

I think you are correct dbeane.

Poor ole girl, young and she did live through nightmare of The "Butcher Baker",

Movie could of cut her little bit more slack. She far as I know she still alive with 3 children living in lower 48 state area.

I don't blame her wanting to disappear from her past after Hanson got through with her. That one guy I didn't mind paying taxes to see locked up for life.

I got the feeling they made her dumber for the storyline's sake. Problem is, it became highly unbelievable she was that stupid. She would beg for help only to run away minutes later.

SO much delicious irony in the thread title.

1. I could see her wanting to leave Cage's house because of the wife complaining, obviously.

2. I could kind of see her leaving the hospital, because she was scared to testify.

3. But driving back to the pimp's place after stealing the car was just downright dumb. Should have told her to drive to the police station or hospital...

Actually there isn't, but there is in your comment.

I have to agree. She put herself in harm's way one too many times and it gets to a point that you just get exasperated with the moronic character. Of course, it doesn't surprise me. A lot of young people smugly think they know the ways of the world, rebel against any sort of structure and have absolutely no logic or common sense. Throw in some drugs & pimps and you have a receipe for a dumb ass! I wanted Nicolas Cage to just arrest her and put her in protective custody in a single jail cell. Moron!
