shouldve been called Tekken :Fishnet

Cause it was filled with more holes and stupid plot points and Annas stockings.

1) Shins clains the experiment made him immortal but the backbreaker from Heihaci kills him??? Didnt even cripple him but killed him. Immortalitys not what it used to be.

2) Devil Kazuya stomps on Alisa's legs crushing them and half of her face gets torn off??

3) Who was it that was in the shower with Shin?? I heard kazuya, then......

4) Why was Kazuya in the shower with Shin.

5) Panda can run fast enough to knock down several guards, and leave a dust cloud?????

6)Why did Kazuya wait till AFTER he got beaten up to transform??

7) Heihachi..... forest spirit.... Mokujins.... Megazord.... enough said.

8) Sooo Ling can hold an explosive (alisa's head)in her hand, have it blow up at point blank range and have no effects??? Its supposed to be like the game i guess but the same game has you get cut by chainsaws and not bleed sooo..

This film sucked. Cant anyone get tekken right??

reply

Half of your criticisms are based on the fact that it wasn't "realistic". Are you familiar with the game? You're aware this is a game that has fighting robots, demons, and pandas? Some of the things you mentioned is just simply for dramatic reasons (Kazuya transforming later, etc.) The film wasn't perfect, but if you're a fan of the game then it shouldn't have bothered you so much. Go watch the live action version if you want more realism.

reply

Oh trust me i LOVE tekken but i hate crappy writing and this exemplified it. And the only 1 based on the game was Alisa's head bomb, the others were plot hole based

reply

Xiaoyu falling off a building and landing flat on her back, then sitting up straight less than a second later is kind of the only thing that bothered me. The rest I've all seen happen in the games.

Regarding Shin, maybe by immortality he meant he'd never age?? I know some stories that define it like that. As for the character, I didn't really like a thing about him so I don't care a lot. It felt like the writers couldn't decide what to do with him.and yes, I hated the Heihachi/Mokujin Monster, too.

As for Kazuya transforming into Devil, in the game it's always hinted that Jin and Kazuya must never fight, or else it's global chaos, armageddon, etc... Maybe Heihachi was in the way, which was why neither Kazuya nor Jin could transform??

I wouldn't put more thought into it, though. I personally loved the movie and these minor plotholes/goofs are simply tolerable, at least for me.

1) I think it was all a ruse just to flush out Jin/Kaz into the trap in the temple? he mentions this IIRC during the reveal.

2) He steps on her torso thus smashing her from the waist down. Still doesnt explain the face smash though. Maybe just to look cool.

3) It was one of Heihachi's henchmen soldier guys (as seen in the temple while waiting for xiao/alisa)

4) Why the hell was that soldier there to keep an eye on Shin in the frickin' shower?

5) Not to mention hold up Majin-Heihachi's leg from stomping Xiaoyu and Alisa. That's a pretty strong panda.

6) He was saving it for Devil Jin? Who unfortunately outclassed him

7) Agreed pretty lame and came out of nowhere. Seemed to be shoehorned in as "Final Boss".

8) It's videogame/anime physics.

They only got the fight parts right. The movie being a pointless girl-buddy movie is not one of them. Way to alienate the core male audience namco. If I want to sleep I'd probably watch after the 30mins mark.

Wasn't Panda. That was the Mokujin Spirits stopping Heihachi. Heihachi did overpower the spirits and continue with the stomp but it was enough for Panda to now ready for it and roll them away to safety.

This is probably the worst movie ever.

reply

I agree. This movie was utter *beep* Laughable bad.

reply

rubbish beyond rubbish.
was cringing through the entire thing.
Almost upskirts and lesbo innuendo redeem this...not really

Convoluted, stupid, campy and just plain nonsensical. Way to *beep* up what could have been something decent.

This movie is definitely open to criticism.
But judging by your reasons you think this movie sucked; It shows more of your inability to understand anything than actually having anything to do with why this movie's plot was flawed.

1) Shins clains the experiment made him immortal but the backbreaker from Heihaci kills him??? Didnt even cripple him but killed him. Immortalitys not what it used to be.

Are you honestly so dumb that you don't understand this??
He only "thought" he was immortal it doesn't make it true.
The guy tried jumping of buildings and bridges and he survived. So he thought he was indestructible.

If a child jumps off the roof of his house because he thought superman was real and he could fly like superman, does it make it true that the child could fly just because he thought he could?? Same logic applies here.

6)Why did Kazuya wait till AFTER he got beaten up to transform??

You clearly HAVE NOT watched alot of Japanese animes, video game storylines or any kind of japanese action/fantasy/sci fi.

Characters in japanese shows do this ALL the time.
Watch any dragonball scene where, Goku, Gohan or any other significant character gets beaten up.. then suddenly they power up!
This stuff is not limited to just dragonball but alot of other japanese shows.

It's a cliched dramatic effect. But definitely not uncommon.

btw if you say that you DO watch alot of animes, japanese shows etc..
then you are a MORON because you should have known better and realised that this stuff is common.

reply

from the looks of it these guys haven`t heard of dragonball z.......

Say NO! Don`t buy the next ME or the ME3 ending/hogwash will be canon!

reply

Ok so basically you one of those people who think theyre Albert Einstein because they know various anime cliches??? Theres no reason to get insulting because a person doesnt agree with you it make you look really sad. In response to that lets look at your points

The guy tried jumping of buildings and bridges and he survived. So he thought he was indestructible.

Then if he survived jumping off of a building theres still the same risk of bodily damage that a simple backbreaker would do- damage to the spinal column and bones- even moreso because of the height he fell from. In short if he can survive jumping off of a building, a backbreaker shouldnt kill him. And added to it, they built him up as being some great experiment that had this power and it came to nothing. Therefore your point is crushed

Honestly, shin was an irrelevant character, another canon Tekken character couldve filled that spot.
Its a shame that he got time when someone else couldve been put in.

Just because its done in Japanese shows DOESNT make it good writing. The fact that its overdone makes it stupider.

Actually that backbreaker would have probably split a regular person clean in half. These fighters have used martial arts on such a level they exceed the normal human limits - Heihachi is probably the strongest non-Devil fighter in the Tekken world. He's a "human" yet can send people through multiple walls one a single hit. Likewise, he can take high levels of damage and keep fighting. These tekken fighters are more than regular people even without the special magic stuff. Even Xiaoyou performed inhuman levels of agility yet is nothing compared to Heihachi. You could fall from a skyscraper twice over before even coming close to the damage Heihachi's backbreaker would do to your spine.

when you watch a film like this you have to realise a LOT of things and take them into account, Japanese tastes are very different to that of other countries, older people go to arcades, lots of girl dress manga style, cutesy stuff rules, they have games that we dont even get sometimes unless imported, now ive followed tekken a long time since the first playstation there is a panda you can play as, so if youve ever seen the game with aa kung fu fighting pande then seeing it run around like that shoudlnt be a problem, its the way they do things, as for the devil transformation im didnt really like that aspect but the 3-way fight was one of the best videogame to film moments ive ever seen, just thank goodness it never turned out like that van damme streetfighter movie. fact is anything in the game can be in the movie, if you dont like then i guess u aint a manga fan either as they do similar stuff, also dragonball z aint exactly realism at its finest, sometimes u gotta remember they are makin films for their culture based on their videogame, and imo its the best fighting game movie to date, this and manga streetfighter the chun li vs vega is epic.

Old post, I know, but only just saw the movie and it's gone 2:30 in the morning and I can't sleep.

1) His mutation seemed to "amp" up his strength at the end but would result in him becoming mortal. Throughout the movie he kept touching the mark and saying stuff like "soon". Only at the end did he come all green and revved up - he was hoping to kill Heihachi before this mutation killed him. He of course underestimated Heihachi and overestimated his abilities.

2) Even before becoming Devil Mode their punches and kicks exerted shockwaves. Even without the Devil Genes they, like Heihachi, were beyond the normals limits. So this revved up times 10? Yup even a simple stomp could exert enough force to cause more damage to Alisa that just the midsection.

3) A trooper/guard - somebody in that armour getup. Probably one of Heihachi's men because the abduction was fake, really, an inside man working for Shin? Shin had to wait for "the right moment" to be captured and for it be shown when he wanted it to (he wanted Alisa and Xiaoyu to see it and they would draw in Jin and Kazuya which is what he wanted).

4) They knew Alisa and Xiaoyou were there - there weren't many places to hide from somebody who was snooping through your room except in the shower with you where they wouldn't just come barging in if you're in there showering. The guy is a lackey who has probably done and seen worse than see a naked man, and Shin was subjected to experiments with people seeing him naked a lot. Neither of them would have given a *beep* or be embarrassed.

5) He's not an ordinary Panda and is a fighter in the games. If anything they made 'im less than what he was in the games. This is a world where through martial arts you can exceed human limits, where robots come alive, where there are ancient wood-peep spirits and Devils. A nimble Panda is the least of the crazy.

6) The transformation itself seems restorative but seems a one-time thing before you have to wait and recover from using it - that's a trump card you save until you need it. I mean, Jin was shot point blank right in the head and survived by a >partial< transformation - so yeah, you wait until you're nearly dead and the enemy thinks they've won to just go BAM - insta-healed and even stronger.

7) For a movie world with devils and worse it seems rather fitting. And for a Tekken world very fitting (True Ogre, Monstrous Ogre, Azazel... Hello? Chou-Mokujin Heihachi is just standard form for Tekken). Have you not played the games?
