Burned bodies real?

An article inferred that the bodies were real, as this was cheaper than paying creative to make fake ones. But I can find no confirmation.

Anyone aware of this?

No way. They'd never get away with using real human remains. Victims of that kind of violent death (intentional or not) would have to be autopsied -- destroyed, for all practical purposes -- and then their devastated relatives would have to consent to their being exploited as a cost-cutting measure for some TV network. Not gonna happen.

Where would they get real burned bodies? How would they get them posed into the burned car?

Besides, it wouldn't be prohibitively expensive to slap together a couple of burned corpses for a TV movie -- hell, Kevin Yagher cranks out burned/decomposed/mummified cadavers for "Bones" every week. Or, failing real effects work, they could always fall back on Cartoon Graphic Imaging -- just geek them in in post-production. Either method would be cheaper, easier, and a hell of a lot more ethical (and sanitary) than using real people.

Yes, they did.
