I love TS and his good looks, but...

in these Jesse Stone movies, he's beginning to look like his dog. Sagging jowls, sad, sad, eyes. Probably intentional (I didn't read the books).

I've read most of the books, and Parker doesn't offer too much description of Stone. We know he was a shortstop, so you can extrapolate some body-type ideas from that, but we don't get a full-on description.

reply

Not a whole lot of 6'5" shortstops. Lol. Although TM was the SS on the Paddlers.

Tom Selleck is still gorgeous after all these years; I guess I am just partial when it comes to him; esp after he gave that b***h Rosie O'Donnell a smack down for attacking him about the NRA, he was there to discuss a new movie that was coming out at the time; I loved how he told her "what about the K-Mart commercials you do? They sell guns and you also have armed bodyguards" (this is when Rosie and Penny Marshall use to do those ads for Kmart) Anyway he shut that fat B up when he said that. She had NO right to attack him (don't give me the BS about free speech, bc Rosie/Tom discussed beforehand what they would be talking about during the interview and she crossed the line) - but my sister read all the books and she said from what she gathered that Jesse's character always had that somber look on his face - esp when his marriage crumbled. He got more somber when his dog died as well. I just hope that we don't get his wife calling all the time and hearing her voice or leaving messages for Jesse; it was getting old, . She always made it more painful for him, but he still continued his investigating-- I love these movies -- want more (like) each year.

Very funny.... a few minutes ago, before he was getting in bed, the camera went from dog to Selleck & I thought the same thing!

He is in his sixties and his character is a deeply depressed alcoholic. Not a good combination for a spring fresh countenance.

The character Jesse Stone in the movies compared to the novels is that he is at least 20 years older and a half a foot taller.

BOO-YEAH!

Yeah, he was pushing 70 in this one. Age gets to all of us.

I like Tom Selleck. It's obvious he's let himself age naturally. He probably didn't want to be stuck in roles that called for him to be good-looking and charming, which is a shame. I find him too somber and morose as this character. There aren't enough layers to his characterization.

We get used to seeing actors on TV who have had a lot of work done, even if we don't realize it. I remember seeing William Holden on the Oscars one year, and the next day everyone said he looked awful. That was because he had gray hair and looked old. Robert Wagner is 86 and he's let his hair go, but he has obviously had quite a few facelifts.
