No, that is a legitimate complaint. All of his movies have that "After Effects" vibe to them. It's like he doesn't want to invest in better software...

Most likely, yes.
It's too bad then that the movies he is paying homage to never had the luxury of digital effects. All of the awful after effects work on this film just made it look cheap and crappy, not fun and campy, like say, all the prop effects, squibs and fake gore used in Planet Terror. "Intentionally bad" loses its charm when it is all digital. Nothing fun about that.

shareI think I actually liked this movie more than the first one (which is strange because it seems to be the other way around), but my only complaints would be the CGI and the weird 'bright as the sun' filtering throughout the movie. Sometimes it was hard to look at.
