I think Rodriguez is the only director, who can..

..make the most ridiculous, embarrassing and dreadful movies in hollywood... and get love from everyone.

reply

Too bad he ain't a Hollywood director and far from loved by everyone - just take a look at his fanbase and you'll see it's pretty split as well. I guess that makes your entire post kinda ridiculous, embarrassing and dreadful.

Chris Nolan, Guillermo del Toro and James Cameron, now that's a couple of directors who can churn out whatever crap they want and get blind praise from a majority of sheeps.

Dead or alive, you're cuming with me

reply

Baa. Baa. Baaaaa.

reply

hey, I'm a Christopher Nolan fan, but I'm not going to give him blind praise. I think his first couple of films are fine. Batman Begins however was utter crap. The Prestige was good, but i'm not going to see myself ever watching it again. The Dark Knight and Inception are films I love, but they have their problems just like any movie does... and The Dark Knight Rises was fun and entertaining while just chock full of plot holes and several other problems.

Guillermo Del Toro is a director I think shows promise, but I just can't stand his movies...with the exception of Pacific Rim which was his least Del Toro-esque. I'm sorry, but Hellboy was a piece of *beep* and it's sequel was just flat out boring. Mimic has a cool concept but an unbelievably weak script... and I haven't got to his other stuff yet such as The Devil's Backbone and Kronos.

James Cameron had a winning streak there for a while, but I hated Aliens and The Abyss. The Terminator hasn't aged well at all but it's sequel is fun. True Lies is definitely fun, but a really cheesy film. Titanic and Avatar are the most overrated films in hollywood.

reply

You truly have terrible opinions on movies.

I mean...just awful.

reply

exactly, what I was just thinking. this person has the worst understanding of what makes a good film. that was so bad, I felt like not even reading the rest of the films this person talked about.

reply

that's weird, i kinda agree with bellis90 hihi

When you're excited, you'll win.

reply

Yeah... James cameron was awesome until he made avatar. Aliens(2) and terminator 2 are his masterpieces.

reply

Aliens(2)

What is that?

reply

so let me get this straight....you are a chris nolan fan but you think batman begins is crap, you are not going to watch prestige again darknight and inception have there problems and rises is full of plot holes.
you talk about guillermo del toro and you dont say anything about hs best movie 'pan's labyrinth'
and than you hate james camerons alien and abyss, titanic and avatar are the most overrated movies you didnt like the terminator and the sequel is ''fun''??? fun?
...i bet you didnt like forrest gump because he has a higher IQ the you....i hope you take drugs because that would explain this...somehow!!

reply

yes, I'm a fan of Christopher Nolan, but no film is ever perfect...ever! and I was merely pointing while I liked his films, they still have their faults which is what a rational thinking person should be able to do instead of blindly saying "IT'S PERFECT!"

I didn't mention Pan's Labyrinth because of two reasons. 1) I haven't seen it... and 2) in the middle of writing, I forgot that that was one of Del Toro's films. I mainly focused on the one's I had seen and the last couple which stick to my mind mainly because I noticed their covers on The Criterion Collection website.

and as for Forest Gump, I like it but I have a few issues with it. Like I said, nothing is perfect...and I happen to be completely drug free thank you. at least I'm taking the time to be articulate with my responses instead of jumping to insults or wild accusations

so prestige is a good movie but you dont see yourself watching it EVER again(thats bizarre.....because some crazy people around the world....when they think a movie is good they watch it many times)
you say you are a fan of nolan and think that his best movies have ''problems''and ''plot holes'' (1)you dont understand the meaning of the word 'FAN' or (2) you are one of this top critics that are watching movies like inspector columbo just to find a mistake.

do have a top 5 with movies you think are close to perfect?....i have to know plsss

reply

Christopher Nolan is the most overrated director ever. I'm not saying his movies are bad, but look at IMDB top 250, almost all his movies are in it. I don't understand this trend. I like his movies, and I think some of them are great (The Prestige and The Dark Knight are really good), but he doesn't bring anything special or new to the movies. You don't have to be columbo to see the imperfections, every Nolan movie is a free fall, where it every problem is solved by another one (that makes you forget the previous). And a movie doesn't have to be perfect to be good, it has to embrace its imperfections (Brazil).

reply

exactly I mean I don't think you could ask for a more incorrect things to say about these films.

reply

So many movies that you seem to hate. I pity you, you can't seem to favor the good in the movies and seem to have mostly bad times watching them. That's sad.

What ARE you smoking? Cameron had an original idea with Terminator and made a movie that had never been made before.

reply

Nolan and del Toro? You have got to be kidding me. Those two guys made excellent movies. F you. James Cameron sucks, though.

reply

Who is loving this *beep*

From the box office it looks like no one went to see it and it got *beep* reviews.

It's a small demographic my friend, he ain't getting away with anything anymore and thank god cause hopefully it will get his head out of his ass like another post put it.

reply

RR is probably on drugs or something (maybe fans of this movie are too) - this movie is mindnumbingly stupid. Not even Amber Heard's aesthetic can distract from the fact how much this movie stinks.

reply

u stink and it shows how boring of imagination and individual you are.

This movie rocked

reply

Nah this movie sucked. :) Don't worry ball hairs grow eventually, you probably wont stay a teen jerker forever :D

reply

exactly, it's not a bad film. it's very entertaining, I wasn't bored at all when watching it. it's just not a great film like machete.

reply

Problem: Antagonist is trapped in a building with bounty-hunters outside
Solution: Just get in the tank, duh

Unless you can provide evidence all you do is make yourself look silly.

reply

Congrats. You realized the irony of the post - that an amateur could do a better job. Please, wait here while I write a screenplay for you.

reply

The irony here is that a person that has nothing boasts he could do better than person earning money for directing his whole life.

Applied Science? All science is applied. Eventually.

reply

That's not ironic, that's what makes Rodriguez sad. Too bad you aren't able to tell the difference between success and quality.

reply

So it makes Rodriguez sad that there are internet trolls that pretend they are better than him but never actually achieved anything? well i guess it does, everyone is sad when there is envy sloths around him.

Can you please give me precise definition of quality so i can tell the difference?

Applied Science? All science is applied. Eventually.

reply

Oh no...anything but the buzzword "troll"...help me...

Who has to pretend? The movie was ridiculous. "Oh no, we're trapped on all sides! Good thing there's an armor plated car in the garage!" The screenplay reads like Saturday morning cartoon, it's not hard to top.

"Can you please give me precise definition of quality so i can tell the difference? "
I can tell you what it isn't - this movie.

reply

The movie was ridiculous.

Sigh. That was THE POINT.

no u couldnt and try get better actors than him instead of sitting in ur mama basement bitching.. mel gibson.. charlie sheen alba etc etc.. good luck chuck

reply

This movie was garbage pal. Straight up garbage. Almost anyone could write a movie better than this, even you. I also have more money than both you and your mother put together so I'm guessing the only reason you brought up something about me living in my mom's basement is because that's what you do.

I think Rodriguez is the only director, who can... make some great action flick under 30 mil budget. Plus he gets to do what he wants. He's not releasing sanitize recut after the 12th test screening. And because he made a *beep* ton of money back from his Spy Kids movies he's been able to adapt Sin City to the big screen. And doing so he's responsible for one of the Top 50 coolest movie ever.

I totally understand that most of his movies have no appeal to the average Joe. But I for one think that they're more inventive and more entertaining that 90% of what big Hollywood studios releasing each years.

I recently saw R.I.P.D, World War Z, After Earth, The Lone Ranger and all of those were bad and worst of all, boring. I'm not saying that Machete Kills was a good movie but at least it was entertaining. There's many recycled ideas in it, but it fits the whole bill. And here and there, there is a clever thing or two, a nice plot twist or a fun character.

I'm very picky when it comes to movies especially those action movies. But to me Rodriguez rarely falls short. He always bring something to it that most directors/producers fails to. Plus I like how he shares and promotes his Hispanic heritage around.

As for the ridiculous I don't think so, it's only over the top.
You cannot say about someone that is is own boss, who on top of it made a ton of cash and who has creative freedom that he's making embarrassing movies. You should hit the dictionary once in a while.
If those are dreadful to you, well simply don't watch them.

And he's not Hollywood.

reply

I loved this movie, was fun through out.

Don't get all the hate, the trailer shows it's over the top and absurd so what do people expect when they actually watch it? lol

reply

I like WWZ a lot. It was more than entertaining. I think this issue here is the rabbid fans not liking any deviation from the book... Maybe they should have called WWZ something else? It is a good name for a zombie flick - yes zombies can be fast.

I skipped RIPD, After Earth and Lone Ranger - I'm sure they were lacking or too derivative... RIPD had potential, yet was too MIB.

Robert Rodriguez has made some great films - not Godfather great or Departed great ... But msybe great like Ronin, yet still being crazy and over the top.

I dnthink for a true spoliation, you need more T&A, maybe there is a DC? I think the first Machette trailer had more T&A on display.

reply

He is not responsible for one of the coolest movie ever,Frank Miller is.Without the comics that movie wouldn`t exist. Thanks to him,Rodriguez became famous.
And he can`t do whatever he wants or his movies will flop, like this one did.Your argument is invalid.

reply

finally, someone one here who knows what they are talking about. I totally agree with you about Robert Rodriguez. Everything you said is true. Robert Rodriguez always makes good films. gosh, the only movie I've ever seen of his which I didn't think was good was once upon a time in mexico. what did you think of that movie? Machete Kills was never boring. I mean, it's just so creative and wild and inventive. there's always something unique, original, and audacious going on. and there are so many memorable characters in it. the action is solid. it has so many surprises in it, so many things that you have never seen in an action movie before. and it's so fresh and creative. Robert Rodriguez almost always delivers movies which are unique and special. is he one of your top 10 or top 20 film directors?

reply

and chrstopher nolan and ornofsky, but get love from every idiot

reply

agree if this would be made from another director it would get hammered =) but from him its a funny ride to watch =)

reply

this movie is the sh*t. its so over the top (its meant to be)... exactly how i knew this movie would be. only rodriguez has the guts for stuff like this and that's why he's so respected. if you didn't know this movie was supposed to be over the top and ridiculous, then now you know.

thank god for stuff like this occasionally instead of the standard stuff we see all the time. don't get me wrong - i'm totally a movie buff (seventh seal, 12 angry men, inception, dark night, one flew under the cuckoos nest, valhalla rising, samsara, blah blah blah, etc....,) even the 1928 "the passion of the joan of arc," and avengers, iron man, thor, and a cr*p load of foreign films that should be mandatory viewing by others... rodriguez is good and he should be respected for his bravery.

RESPECT!!!

reply

Don't forget Tarantino. Wow. No one's mentioned him so far.

some of the people on here are so ignorant and retarded. gosh, have these people ever watched good films? do they know what makes a good film? Robert Rodriguez has almost always made revolutionary films. films that exist outside of the usual, boring Hollywood, cookie cutter framework. films that are always visually striking and always inventive and always unique. but I have to kind of disagree with you about Robert Rodriguez being brave and having guts as this movie didn't have the balls that machete has. it lacks the balls to the wall, anything goes, we'll show anything, and unapologetic about it factor that machete has. it has no female nudity, it doesn't have the unrelenting, bold, very violent violence and action that machete has. and it doesn't have the edge that machete has. and it's not an exploitation film like machete is because it doesn't have these things. it's not anywhere near as daring and original as machete is. but it is a good film and it's never boring which is saying a lot.

reply

I think it's embarassing when retards expect too much substance from Hollywood, to then be spoon fed idelogy and crap.
Just watch the movie and be entertained by it.
If you want substance, go read a *beep* book or watch a documentary.
