Similar movies?

I'm looking for more movies with a psychological thriller/ torture aspect to them. Preferably with a group of people. Thanks in advance!

Tis' but a scratch!

I watched "Girls Against Boys" earlier on VOD & it was definitely a psychological thriller. It's not an original story, but it's shot in a very trancelike way. It's gotten horrible reviews of course, but I think it's worth a look.

Other than the SAW films, I'd say HOSTEL (1-3) (yeah, I saw HOSTEL 3 and it's really not that bad).

I'd also suggest:

13 TZAMETI(2005)
BATTLE ROYALE
CUBE
DEVIL
NIGHT TRAIN(2009)
THE BOX
NINE DEAD

I want to say there are more films that take place "around a table" like this but none come to mind.

red room is similar to this movie

reply

yup, but a million times better, even though it was done with a much lower budget. same goes for red room2.

I really liked The Final and The Exam. Truth or Die (US title) was pretty good as well. And the movie with dice was called simply "Die."

The Exam is my personal favorite, it doesn't have any much gore but the movie experience is one big rollercoaster ride.

Truth or Die was a good one.

Vile (2011)

A group of friends stop to pick up a hitchhiking woman only to end up getting drugged by her with a gas. They awaken to find that vials have been implanted in the base of their skulls - which are of course instantly fatal if they are removed, a grinning professional looking woman informs them on TV screens that they have 22hrs to fill these vials with a specific amount of brain fluid, a fluid that is produced during times of extreme pain. Along with another group of unlucky test subjects and with time ticking away they decide to work together and share the burden of reaching their painful target.

not exactly movies, but check out the Liar Gime (live action show from Japan) and the anime called Kaiji. I think this movie took a lot from those

Exam (2009)

I'm not into torture movies at all, but 'Exam (2009)' is quite good (not torture at all, no blood, just some psychological... play).

reply

yup. exam was fantastic.

house of 9

Some of these were mentioned by the other commenters, but off the top of my head (aside from Saw, Cube, Hostel, and Human Centipede):

Nine Dead
House of Nine
Hunger (2009 - Not the same as the movie about the guy who goes on a hunger strike)
Exam
Devil
Blackout
Breathing Room

I saw another one recently where I think people had to roll dice to decide who lived and died, but I didn't like it very much, so I'm not too worried that I can't remember the name.

Some other movies that have a similar vibe, but are different than this (although if you like this, you might like these):

The Hole (2001 - With Thora Birch)
The Perfect Host
Cabin in the Woods
Grave Encounters
Triangle - Which may not be what you're looking for at all, but I think it's a highly underrated amazing movie. One of my favorites ever. So I'm adding it. :)

I agree with this. Although I'm baffled by what similarities Triangle shares with Would You Rather, Triangle is still a fantastic underrated horror. Not to repeat what everyone else has suggested, I'll just suggest Fermat's Room where the majority of the film takes place within a single room where four people are locked inside and the walls are slowly closing in.

I love Triangle!
