Horrible! Screw this movie! I hate it with passion!

Okay so I gotta get this off my chest. Just watched this movie (friends wanted to watch a horror movie, they fell asleep during the movie lol) and it left me with such a bad feeling that I gotta write this down. I don't care if anyone responds, I don't even wanna start a discussion - just wanna write this down and let it all out.

Who and why would people find this entertaining? Sure, it's kind of an interesting look into the very darkest reaches of human psyche, but I feel super horrible after enduring through this. Figured I'd stick to the end, and what do I get? Biggest slap in the face ending of all time. The bastards didn't get killed (was so looking forward to that the entire time) and then his brother dies. Why? Why is that necessary? What did that accomplish? Being edgy and cool? Ooh look at me, I'm dark and stuff. No happy ending, zero satisfaction to you! Whatcha gonna do? I bet the guy who came up with this movie really is like the main villain in the movie - a sadistic sociopath. It's anti-climactic to the max. Makes me feel like punching the creator of this movie straight in the face. I mean damn this movie left me with a BAD mood. Like a super nihilistic feeling, like there is zero hope for human race ever and screw the universe for ever existing. This is not what I wanna feel like after watching a movie. What are people trying to accomplish with movies like this? I just don't get it. Not making people entertained I guess. I mean sure it got me thinking (about all the worst and idiotic things about humanity), but it pretty much ruined my whole day (happy halloween! yay.) I don't know about other people but I don't wanna watch movies to make me feel super depressed about life. The person who came up with this must be very, very sick in the head to think of and bring to existence something like this. Human cruelty and greed and lack of consciousness, compassion and understanding always seems to baffle me.

Well at least I finally figured out that I never wanna watch horror movies again in my life (been entertaining the though for a while, but this broke the camel's back. Congrats..?) There is so much evil in the human heart, I don't need to be reminded of it through "entertainment." I'm sorry but movies should not leave me feeling like this, there is a reason why most (IMO good and entertaining) films have a happy ending. I wanna feel like there is hope at the end, not that humanity is doomed to eternal "hell" of selfishness and uncaring disunity.

0/10 for the movie. Screw this movie. No-one should ever have to see this garbage.
10/10 for hitting me right in the feels. I think that some might view this as an achievement for the film, but I don't think anyone should be proud for causing people to get so depressed about "art."

Such a horrible experience. Would not recommend for anyone. Stay away. Well I guess that's Halloween for ya. Ramble over, peace out.

Looks like horror isn't for you, go watch a romantic comedy wuss.

I agree I was pretty pissed off at the ending. The rest of it was sadistic, but killing the brother like that was ridiculous especially the timing etc lol. Im not sure why anyone would like this movie honestly. I like horror movies, but I hate when they have *beep* endings.

reply

I like it because it was entertaining. This movie is better than lots of movies out there.

This. Even as a fan of horror and especially thrillers, I did not like this. I kinda called the brother dying before it happened, just to be another middle finger to her for shooting the guy at the end of the "game". It just wasn't a very good ending that's for sure. I was hoping the gal would shoot that rich *beep* when she was handed the gun, but I guess that would've been too much.

For someone who seems so concerned with the morality of the situation, you should be HAPPY that the movie ended the way it did.

Yes, for the first 2 acts, Mr. Lambrick forced these people to commit grievous injuries to each other. However, Iris was given a clear choice at the end - walk out of here empty handed, or commit murder for the reward. So she killed the guy and got her reward.

Finding her brother dead was the ultimate "justice" of the film. It showed that being "the bad guy" (killing Lucas) didn't pay off in the end. Forget Shep as the villain - think of him like a bear or a wolf - he just does what he does regardless. Iris had a choice. After all that she had been through she had a choice to do the right thing or to do the wrong thing. After an entire movie of trying to "fight" Shep's game, she finally sold out and gave in. And the universe punished her for it.

Karma's a bitch.

Would her finding her brother alive at the end made the murder of Lucas any less inhumane? THAT is your hopelessness - the murder of Lucas actually paying off. But it didn't.

On a more general note, I guess you don't watch many horror movies? If you want a happy ending, there are plenty of other genres to turn to. Some of us don't like figuring out that Boy and Girl are going to end up together within the first 5 minutes.

Let me help you.

They are playing a Parlour Game (GAME) so there are no Winners as your winning contestant lost anyway by the death of her brother

This is your typical movie with a Twist

Just found this post. As you can see, the debate continues.

Happy to find any post that shares agreement with my own, especially on this movie. Thought I was alone in thought or crazy.

"I think someone's had a little too much to drink"

(Sorry, couldn't resist quoting the movie, ha ha ha.)

The recovering alcoholic scene was pretty messed up. Yeah I agree this movie sucks. Even tho her brother killed himself, she still got rich AF so it's not a complete loss. Yeah, *beep* movie

reply

I only made it 46 minutes. It was bleak AF. No thank you. I'm watching horror for the scares, not for sadistic rich ass hats playing torture porn parlor games. Not my thing.

If you're expecting a feel good ending, you probably shouldn't be watching horror movies. This movie was seriously tame compared to some movies out there.
