Enjoyable

I just saw this on Netflix and I was surprised at the 2 out of 10 rating. This movie was at least as good as a SyFy tv movie, which isn't saying much I suppose. Given what has come out of the medieval style fantasy genre, I've seen worse since not everything has the budget of the LOTR/The Hobbit movies. I would give it at least a 5 out of 10, though I can pretty much watch anything that has sword fighting, armor, castles and dragons (the fact that the movie has gargoyles and wyverns but no dragons is a big minus).

I really liked the twist at the end that the Black Dragon was actually a Black Dragon conjuring an image of a human sorcerer, and not a sorcerer or that man with the black hood riding after the Templars. I thought the warrior woman and the Templars did decent fighting, though there were definitely some scenes that were stiffly choreographed. The witch girl needed to stop crinkling her head in worry...I'm sure the character was actually freaked out all the time, but it was the same freaked out expression throughout the whole movie. I was expecting more of a zombie battle in the castle near the beginning, but everyone left before that went into full force.

I came on here specifically to see where it was filmed and I see it was in Wales. Beautiful location shots!
