How bad is it?

I've been a fan of Full Moon for years. Their old films are still great fun. But lately their films are slipping, even the recent PUPPET MASTER movies.

I'll just come out and say it. THE KILLER EYE is quite possibly the worst Full Moon film I've ever seen. Course I have yet to watch any of the EVIL BONG films, as the very idea of it still makes me cringe.

But for this film itself. What would I expect? Naked babes? Soft core porn? Any story whatsoever? I was told this featured a lot of archive footage from the original. Is that true?

I just got done watching it (after streaming it free online of course). It actually starts off very well; the cinematography is very attractive as are the majority of the girls in the film. Acting and dialogue are trademark Full Moon (so it ranges from surprisingly decent to epic fail) and same goes for the music (cheesy during the opening credits, then we get something surprisingly effective in a pan over the house). Four of the girls effectively MST3K the first Killer Eye for not quite ten minutes, easily one of the better parts of the movie.

It's worth the $1 rent at redbox; my issue is that there really isn't enough of anything. There isn't enough character development. There isn't enough insight into the crystal ball. There isn't enough comedy *or* horror. There isn't enough lesbian action (considering it consumes the plotline, considering theres an all girl cast, and considering Charles Band knew who he was marketing this movie to, even the biggest of prudes would agree), hell there isn't even enough Killer Eye. We get slight hints of all of these, and I was surprised that wanting to know more kept me watching, but without the credits we're left with a disjointed 55 minute blob of "meh." It would have made a great cheesy Masters of Horror episode if the script was tighter, but even as is its still entertaining enough way to kill an hour. If you're into Full Moon which you obviously are I would deffinately check it out :D

I disagree I think Full Moon has really made a comeback the past few years; after the Paramount split and through the first half of the 2000's their flicks were pretty unwatchable. I haven't seen Axis of Evil yet but have not heard good things...that bad?

Some of their films after Paramount were quite decent, but to me Full Moon officially got stupid around 2000. It's almost embarrassing how overly sexual or ridiculous their films have gotten these days, even if Charles Band says it's all in good fun, it just feels so amature. And I don't think it's a budget issue, the aging "dude" probably just said "f/ck it!"

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Bland, uninspired characters, below average acting, lack of puppet action, unnecessary storyline, historical inaccuracies make the script feel like it was written by a child, and a really, really pointless cliffhanger. I know they're planning another film, probably to follow this one, but maybe an extra five minutes of footage could've saved them the hastle.

One of the good things though was the recreation of the Bodega Bay Inn hallway and hotel room used splicing AXIS OF EVIL with the 1939 events of the original. I hope they saved those sets.

One thing I've noticed is Full Moon packs their films with nudity, maybe gore, self promotion, all that "fun" stuff but for the PUPPET MASTER series, they seem to hold back. PUPPET MASTER 3 was the last film in the series to feature nudity. Not saying nudity would be necessary, but why leave it out of PUPPET MASTER and not KILLER EYE 2 or THE GINGERDEAD MAN? And I might add CURSE was probably the last film in the series that in anyway feels authentic, with the outdoors and locations that don't feel like a film set somewhere, or clothing that's obviously not taken from a high school drama class.

Despite my love of the film series, I think I consider AXIS OF EVIL my least favorite in the series. Even over LEGACY, which is basically just a clip film. And despite that film's problems, it is better to watch random footage of the earlier films than it is AXIS OF EVIL.

I thought it was completely irredeemable for its lack of plot, character, comedy, etc. Feel free to save your money and check out my review of it instead:

Just finished watching it. Nice job.

I still have yet to see this sequel. Playing a little MST3K over the original footage sounds like fun, but chances are the girls suck at it. And the film itself would be too inappropriate for Rifftrax.

Thanks!

Oh, they do. The extent of their comedy skills is reading names with strange voices and speculating about the director's sexual orientation.

Well director Dave DeCoteau is gay, but they shouldn't make fun of that.

Must've been Band's personal addition just to rib at his old co-worker.
