We love the drugs!

What is about drug themed comedies that make us so darn happy? Dazed and Confused is by far one of the most hilarious, most popular movies in this genre. It follows the adventures of high school pot heads, providing memorable moments for newcomers (back then) Ben Affleck and Matthew McConaughey. Arthur, a film about a dysfunctional drunk played by the iconic Dudley Moore, finds himself amusing audiences as he pursues diva Liza Minnelli as a love interest.

My guess is that we like to live vicariously through others who partake in mind altering substances that aren’t appropriate for normal, law abiding citizens. Or, that we enjoy watching a character we can relate to, someone who’s affected by an addiction or bad habit that manifests itself in our lives with mostly negative consequences. What do you think?
