Equally skewed in the opposing direction

Seriously, this movie is a bunch of distorted facts and half truths to favor pits. Which is EXACTLY what the PB proponents are fighting against! It's equally as much propaganda as the anti pit movement, so the entire thing is useless and lame.

All you have to do is watch 10 mins of it, think rationally about what they said (or didn't say or spun) for a moment, and you'll realize what a joke this movie is...

What? The first 10 minutes was her talking about her family experiences with pit bulls. To be fair they did leave out that the breed with the highest attack rate is the pit bull. However, stating the statistic doesn't tell you the causality. What leads to their being more human attacks by pit bulls then any other breed. Are they more inherently violent? Ask a dog trainer, ask a veterinarian, ask *beep*ing Cesar Milano. The only thing inherit about a pit bull is that it's strong. The unfortunate consequence of this is that when a Pit Bull is poorly trained it has the potential to do more damage then other weaker breeds that are poorly trained. Regardless, there's no denying that pit bulls can be just as gentle as any other dog. Should a family lose their companion because some humans decide to be irresponsible owners. That's all this doc is asking. Well I guess haters are going to hate. In the end your prejudices and you are the real joke.

Uh, I never said anything about the breed themselves, only about this movies hypocrisy in the ways it defends the breed. Please re-read my original post and point out specifically where I said ANYTHING about the breed as a whole. You can't because it's not there despite what you somehow read into it.

I'd read (and actually think about) posts more carefully before immediately becoming unjustifiably indignant and accusing someone of having prejudices and being a joke...

"Should a family lose their companion because some humans decide to be irresponsible owners."

Not exactly. However, it still remains irresponsible to own pit bulls.

Really, what needs to happen is that the breeding and sales of pit bulls be banned. Then the problem takes care of itself. It just isn't a good animal to have as a pet. It presents an unnecessary risk to others though it's capacity to damage. Dogs are dogs, and occasionally do dog things like bite people if they are startled or otherwise provoked, often inadvertently.

The difference is, when my mom's 5 pound Maltese bit me, it never even left a mark. When pit bulls bite, people go to the hospital, and sometimes people die. That's just unconscionable for society to allow. Pit bull mixes represent less than 1% of total dogs, and yet account for 65% of fatal dog attacks ever year. #1 in fatal attacks, #1 in attacks involving serious injury. Not acceptable. I don't hate pit bulls. I'm sure the majority of them are sweet, loving dogs. But nobody who wanted to own a pit bull would be hurt if they had to buy a different kind of dog instead.

What a crock of ignorant bull crap. Maybe the fact that your moms 5 Pound Maltese bit you in the first place is a red herring as to what type of dog owner you are. The simple fact is that the in the vast majority of cases violence isn't bred into Pitballs or any dog for that matter. Irresponsible owners lead to dangerous dogs. If anything a violent dog is more of a commentary about human depravity. In regards to your last sentence:

"But nobody who wanted to own a pit bull would be hurt if they had to buy a different kind of dog instead"

Well yeah actually I kind of would, I think they are a particularly strong and loyal breed, I am an outgoing person and they suit my lifestyle, running, cycling generally being outside. These small dog breeds are for pompous eccentrics that carry them around in their hand/man bags.

Agreed. I've known many pit bulls and all were great dogs because they have great owners. None were raised to be an extension of the owner's ego, they were raised to be family pets. It's sickening to see these town "leaders" use their seat to allow the murder of thousands of dogs. I've been to many dog parks where the dogs considered to be family friendly - labs, Goldens, Collies - have been the aggressors. And in all cases, those owners were not minding them at the time.

Really. Maybe 99.99% of the time they are dogs just like any other dogs, but when they snap, as dogs are sometimes known to do, they are so powerful and so fierce, the results can be tragic. Even a CDC study that was attempting to dispel some of the bad reputation of pit bulls noted that almost 70% of fatal attacks are by pit bulls or Rottweillers. That is just purebred...If you add in pit bull mix, the number probably shoots to over 90%. I'll tell you this much

Those are recent and aren't even all the ones I found. If you let dogs like this around your kids, you're a bad parent.
