Film wasn't bad until the end (SPOILERS, DUH)

Why would the detective go to the bother of killing them all for not speaking out about the murder. There's no sense behind it. He could surely understand why people would be reluctant to speak out?

I agree. Loved 99% of the movie except this. They could've added ONE line that would've made it all, ALL OF IT make sense, something 'HE WAS MY ****ING SON!' Then you'd clearly get why it was being done to them. As it stands, does he go around killing EVERYONE attached to any case he ever had???

Just saw the movie and i was thinking the same, something at least like that the father of the kid hire him as a hitman would work better, still a good movie though.

I thought it was terrific but yes the ending wasn't convincing. Personally I think they should have left him as a random psycho who was doing it for no reason, far more ambiguous and scary.

I agree. I rated it a 7 because of the ending other wise I'd say it was a solid 8. The end over-explained everything. Should have just been up to the viewer's imagination of whether or not it was someone who wanted revenge or just a maniac.

The cop being the dad wouldn't make sense, but I agree that it was utterly ridiculous that the cop was the shooter, with no explanation. I guess it was supposed to be a surprise, but it was pretty obvious from fairly early on (who else could it have been?!) so I'd rather they'd have given him some back-story to explain why he might have gone to those lengths.

As it was it was unsatisfying, and hard to believe.

I don't generally like inconclusive endings, but it would have actually been better in this case had the shooter not been revealed and just disappeared into the night!

Agree, would have more sense if it wasn't someone sworn to uphold the law and faced similar scenarios in every case he investigated.

Although for an alternative, it would have to have been a relative of the victim that that has access to such an arsenal and skill set.

Met James Moran (the writer) at London Frightfest film festival last month and chatted to him for about five minutes. He actually confirmed that the cop was meant to be the cousin of the boy who was beaten to death and there was a line at the end of the film that was supposed to reveal this but for some reason it was cut.

That conversation didn’t happen. Like the writer wouldn’t have found out why it was cut.

Do me a favour.

Yeah, it was the STUPIDEST PART EVER!!

So he goes and kills innocent people, including children because there was no justice on a case he was working on. What a major douche bag.

reply

Yes it did spoil the movie for me as it really was pretty good and 5.9 actually not enough. Good actors as well which made me watch it even if on late. And had me at the edge of my seat. Sometimes adds more if then a pretty dull ending
