He does point out one very solid thing.
Every time Kubrick deviates from the book, it involves scenes that have all these strange symbolic things in them.
Why have the kid wearing that sweater?
Why is everybody wearing red, white and blue?
Why does Nicholson have a small note in his hand in the final scene?
Why do they keep having important dramatic scenes with those Indian symbols "cropped" in each shot to look like rockets?
Why change the color of the car, and then show the exact car in the book being destroyed in an accident?
You can't just dismiss all this as coincidence.
