For the UK (BBC2) the release date is actually December this year, as far as I know.

Edit (Dec 2012): Looks like it's going to be first or second week of January 2012, after all.. BBC Two decide!

Really? That's awesome, I can't wait for this. I've been waiting for a remake of this movie forever and I just found out about this. I hope it goes up on Youtube at some point or even better (but unlikely) comes to BBC America or Public Broadcasting channel.
