Trailer is not that hyping...

I love Adkins, been following him since discovering him as Boyka, but since he made U3 i am not really satisfy with his roles. I mean its ok he was a simple Thug in old movies like "The Medallion" or an enforcer in the ones like Border Patrol. But then since Boyka, he proved he can act, he fight tremendously, why he dosen't score better role. Assassination Games was cool, but it had Van Damme as more of a lead. The trailer for El Gringo seem to show little martial arts for Adkins and more gunfight, i just hope he dosen't turn into another Van Damme in term of career.

I mean, after his first wave of martial arts movies(Kickboxer, Double Impact, Bloodsport, Lionheart, Cyborg) he then made several movies that had almost no fighting in them until very recently.

Not that they where not good(actually some where awfull but not all) like TimeCop that his pretty good, but they show almost no martial arts. I don't get a Van Damme movie to see him gunfight with a Longueil Hair Cut like in Hard Target. Even tough the film is good enough(John Woo style) i think Van Damme was miscasted. Then you have Nowhere to run(almost no fight) and Knock Off(that i won't even comment)

He made some good ones too like In Hell(even tough he didn't fough Van Damme style in it) but it just lacked kicking and fighting.

I hope Adkins make many martial arts movies, the industry need a guy like him, cause in term of american martial arts, right now there isn't much interesting. Michael Jay White has made a a couple very good ones, but after that there is not a lot since the Kickboxing in movies died...

Scott Adkins and Matt Mullins if used well, could restart fighting movies that used more choregraphy standing up instead of MMA style. Mullins hasn't prove much in term of acting tough, so for the moment i would used him as a side kick or a bad guy but Adkins has.
