Get the Gringo

Here is the movie that "El Gringo" is the knockoff to:

Get the Gringo (2012)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1567609/combined

Most movies that are anticipated have a knockoff-straight-to-DVD movie with a title that is virtually the same, has a much lower budget, and has *beep* C list actors like Christian Slater or Cuba Gooding Jr. El Gringo is one of these movies. Do yourselves all a favor and see "Get the Gringo" instead of this POS.

El Gringo script was bought back in July 2011 and the shooting title for Get The Gringo was "How I spent My Summer Vacation" They changed the title for the Gibson film 2 months ago, 8 months after El Gringo had wrapped so you're obviously talking bullish*t!

Both films were released on Video on Demand. Get the Gringo played in nine theatres across the US and played for only one day; it was originally supposed to be release On Demand just like El Gringo.

Both films have completely different screenplays, an entirely different cast, and have nothing in common. Not even the title.

Other than a white guy battling corrupt Mexican officials and Mexican gangs of thugs for a case with two million dollars. And everybody has guns that never run out of bullets, except as a handy plot device.

Along with the fact that the rather hot Sofía Sisniega is in both of them.

Exactly! And I didn't even know that bit about Sofía Sisniega, how ironical! That should be the nail in the coffin, no?

Watch the film before you knock it. Get the Gringo's real name is "How I Spent My Summer Vacation", they changed the name for the American release and the two movies have completely different plots. Just because they both have "Gringo" in the title does not mean this is a knockoff, that's like saying American Beauty and American Psycho were related in some way.

El Gringo is a low budget action flick in the grindhouse style, and it is a LOT OF FUN to watch. Christian Slater may be B or C list these days, but he is still A quality talent and it he starred in one of the most epic films ever made, True Romance.

Scott Adkins is one hell of an action hero, and he is steadily making a name for himself. Outside of Asian cinema, it is very hard to find a true action star.

I can't wait to see Mel Gibson in Get the Gringo, but these two movies are completely different. This isn't like when the two War of the Worlds movies came out or when the two Truman Capote movies came out (though the DTV Capote film was actually very well done).

I remember when Ninja Assassin and Ninja (with Scott Adkins) came out at the same time and Adkins' lower budget flick with his on screen acrobatics was much more fun than the over stylized junk that was Ninja Assassin.

I enjoyed El Gringo, it was in no way a P.O.S., and I am sure I will love Get the Gringo. Win-win for me.

Hey and dont forget Pump Up The Volume. A total classic Slater film and with a sweet soundtrack including The Pixies.

LOL peopel are defending this B movie trash. I guess Ninja coming out around the time of NinJa Assassin was a coincidence too.
