This Should Be Rated Higher (Mookie!)

I would say this film is underrated going by some of the comments on here. I thought the film had guts going into the darker territories that it explored. I thought the cast did really well and I'll watch Lester Freamon in anything he does and he did not disappoint here.

Did nobody else get a surge of happiness when Sal's Famous Pizzeria was mentioned and the name Mookie was said. There is a part of me that would now love to see a sequel to DTRT because clearly Mookie and Sal are on good terms, which really makes me happy. I always really feel sorry for Sal at the very end of DTRT and felt Mookie although he had some justification was being far too harsh on Sal. The tension in that final scene is so uncomfortable, painful and realistic that I felt Mookie and Sal's relationship had came to an end. So I'm very happy to have a vision in my head of Spike Lee and John Turturro arguing, debating and being scolded from Danny Aiello.

Overall I felt this was a brilliant small film that earned the right to be set in the same streets and universe where Do The Right Thing was set. I'm sure like many of you on here I don't fully agree with Spike Lee's negativity towards Quentin Tarantino (I may be the only person who didn't hate Girl 6) but that doesn't alter the fact that Spike Lee is still a brilliant fresh talented film maker. Summer of Sam and Clockers are two seminal masterpieces that I believe will continue to find a more appreciative audience as time goes on.

Spike if you're reading this make a feature or short film dealing with Mookie and our other favourite characters, we all want to know if Sal has a picture of Radio Raheem up on his wall in respect.
