Lol Typical BBC

You can always count on the BBC to balls up just about any crime drama they come up with.

After episode 1 and 2 it had real potential, but then it went all down hill!

Couldnt believe the ridiculous finale, almost balls'd it up as much as they did last year with the grey shadow or whatever the hell it was called!

AHAHAHAH

p.s better leave anything in this genre to the yanks and HBO and stop wasting license payers money.

Yup. Lousy ending. Just seemed like they tried really hard to come up with something "surprising" and could only come up with surprisingly bad.

What did you think you were watching - a drama about a robbery? It may have *featured* a robbery, but that really wasn't the point of the series. It was about how men interact with each other, with their partners, in work situations, in social situations. It was about finding out what you *really* want from life and how far you would go to get it. It was about the lies we tell each other and the lies we tell ourselves and how we deal with the consequences when we get found out. In this context, John's arrival back at the depot makes sense. Think about it - there was no real plan for John beyond getting the money out. The thrill was having his plan succeed and his re-invention as the top dog!

The fact that such thought-provoking piece was wrapped up in an excellent heist story and filmed so brilliantly with the time-switching POV was just the icing on the cake for me.

Can't follow all the "disappointing finale" comments either, really. Although it's always the same few people who are posting these comments—there'll always be some people who don't like the end of any story, and those will usually be more likely to check and post in forums.

I guess many people are just so used to the Hollywood cardboard routine that they expect any film or series with a heist element to end up in the same climatic finale. I love Inside Men just *because* it chose more grim, low-key and character-centric elements, and didn't try to replicate any of the 50000 flashy, identical Hollywood heist flicks already out there.

I have to agree with TallPaulus...
I suspect the original poster may prefer the cardboard cliché productions of Hollywood, devoid of any decent character or plot development, designed with a target audience of juveniles with a remote control glued to their sticky fingers, or so convuluted in the plot, to render it completely implausible. I enjoy programmes that make you think, but not those that take the audience for granted.

For me, a non-American, non-Brit, who has eshewed Hollywood in recent years in favour of the decent crime dramas emanating from Europe in general, and Scandinavian countries in particular. I enjoyed this production, and although not of the high standard of some of the better UK crime series, it is still far superior than most.
