Disappointing denouement

So john, heist mastermind, was only in it for the kicks - a kind of ultimate adrenaline junkie or mid life crisis? Couldnt he have taken up a reckless hobby or perhaps even dogging? But stage an armed robbery - this was ridiculous! He went on to say that he'd never be afraid again - this could well change when hes being buggered in prison by Mr Big and his friends!

One would imagine that chris would have told the police about the 5 sept date once he knew it and that they would have ben swarming about the place or at least tip off john's superiors?

Marcus' true nature as the brainless thug we all assumed him to be was revealed when he beat the crap out of the security monitoring the cctv - did he really need to use that level of violence?

In reality anyone associated with the three would have been under strict surveillance and suspicion especially after chris' admission to the police. His good friendship with marcus would be common knowledge surely?

A very poor conclusion after the 3 good preceding episodes.

The violence from Marcus on the CCTV I go I thought was due to previous antipathy/rivalry between the pair, not becuase of the robbery itself, as it was unneccassary for that, it was simply revenge.

Thus illustrating his thuggery?

John was in it for two reasons, neither of them the money. He was there for the adrenaline, definitely, and I would say he wanted to completely screw the company. Pulling off the heist certainly did that, but being caught (as he knew he would be) would take the shine off that. Turning up at the plant with his share of the money is a final two fingers at them.

It actually makes sense, from his warped frame of mind. The twist that the series pulled was that we thought he was rational, and in it for the money.

Hahaha, yes the thought of how brave he might feel just before getting violently sodomised in prison ocurred to me too as he was making that speech :o)

Yes but John is a changed man. He's no longer afraid of anything. He is not thinking of being sodomized. He looks like he is going to be the one to pick a fight now. He's quietly antagonistic, can get angry and forceful without shouting, I think he proved his point. It's like someone facing there fear of heights and jumping out of an airplane. He hated himself and was willing to go that extra mile to change himself. Yes he could have done it differently, but that opportunity came to him and he became less rational in a weird sort of way.

This is my signature and I'm sticking to it. lol

I too thought that the police being on stand-by was obviously why Chris was absent during the night it was all supposed to go down. They were ready to go, Chris having told them what he knew about the plan—then bugger all happened. Even if they surveilled John, his day was completely routine. Also, I doubt that the police would inform John's superiors in such a case, they'd rather have as few civilians involved as possible, especially since they had no idea who else might be in on it.

When John tried to inform him that things were called off, and couldn't find him, he realised that he had turned on them. Whether he suspected that he might have gone to the police doesn't matter, as Riaz said, Chris would either play along during the heist or not, only then would they know whether he was with or against them. From September 5 it was obvious that he was against them. That's why John excluded him from the meeting.
