Awesome action movie, awesome cars, but that Ending!

First of all, I have to say, for it's budget this movie is amazing. All involved really give it their all and were clearly up for anything. This movie is absolutely jam packed with stunts, fighting, make-up effects, pyrotechnics, and probably more death race action than the first film.

Another thing that has to be commended is that after the kind of boring reuse of the cars from Death Race 1 (which were still cool) they went all out this time and actually constructed eleven,all-new, huge imposing vehicles for all the car carnage. I found this extremely satisfying.

There were many, MANY mistakes in the movie but I'm not the type of guy to care so much about that when there is so much action to enjoy. However I really felt the ending was very nonsensical.

I didn't really have a problem with Luke and everyone getting away and living happily ever after, I mean it actually fits from the original movie, but the way they get revenge on the bad guy is absurd. All I can really say about it is this, based on Niles behavior in this movie, do you see him telling Case to eject so she doesn't get hurt at the beginning of Death Race 1? I think how Death Race 2 ended was pretty perfect because Lukas WAS the Frankenstein of the first movie, who would tell his navigator to eject and whom Case would want to honor by donning his mask at the end to keep him alive in peoples minds.

Frankenstein in the first movie, even though we only have that short opening scene with him, is a sympathetic character who we felt bad for knowing he crashed and suffered so much. Now that it turns out Niles was that Frankenstein, well, it renders the first movies attitude towards the original Frank pretty stupid doesn't it?

I am only guessing that Niles might have gotten killed at some point when Hennessy was running Death Race because she told Ames that there had been some other guys who were behind the mask. Being that York's assistant Prudence was now running his company, she might have made a deal with Hennessy to probably have him killed at some point because he was a dirtbag and a half. Sure, Hennessy was no better but still.

However, Case said that Ames was a lot better looking than the other Frankenstein which could only mean that it could have been York because he was badly burnt and disfigured.

All I need is one mic...

I doubt Niles would have made it through one race. I would be willing to bet he didn't even drive his own car, as he was probably chauffeur driven everywhere. For him to go from that to winning race after race against experienced, hardened veterans is insane even by the standards of this franchise. No, it's pretty apparent that Niles died, the company covered up his death, and the Frankenstein that Case knew was another man behind the mask.

Incidentally, I know that Niles is a huge cockweasel, but I felt that this fate was unnecessarily cruel. Simply killing him back in South Africa would have been far kinder.
