Pretty good Blade anime. Nothing great, but good

I give it a 7. The story can get a little boring at times. The action scenes could of been better/longer. It's usually just a few sword slices and that's it. Apart from the last episode (lots of action/boss fights). The thing I do like about the series is the atmoshphere of each episode... how dark and gloomy they are. The music is pretty decent as well. Especially the opening and ending themes. I also like the flash backs Blade has of his childhood/teenage life.. probably the most interesting part of the series.

It's very typical japanimation. Nothing special or cutting edge. It's made for a Cartoon Network audience (cute young girl; loyal dog). Blade and Deacon Frost are the only things familiar from the movies, I'm guessing because the movie studios own everything all the other characters. But Im a Blade-a-holic so I'll take anything involving Blade that I can get my hands on. I was happy to see this even existed. Plus it's a good opportunity to give us more background on Blade's past, though I wonder why they set Eric's background in the UK instead of the US especially when many of the characters in the flashbacks have american accents.

What I find strange is that this is the only Blade anime. I was very surprised that there wasn't already one made. I'd love it if they did a whole series on Blade.

Im sure they had intended for it to be longer had it been more popular but they didn't do much promotion. Im only just now hearing about it and I still have two more episodes to go. Still I wish it was more cutting-edge and a little kiddie anime (the girl & the dog). This seems to follow along the lines of the Blade tv series that featured Sticky Fingaz where he has a female sidekick who gets as much action as the lead character. I'd prefer to just see Blade kick ass like in the movies.

And I screwed up. I forgot that the original character in the Tomb of Dracula comics was UK-born so that's why this anime has the character based in England. Like I said, they obviously weren't allowed to use any characters or ideas from the movies so everything they utilized as backgrounds come from the comics or are newly created.

Just finished. Good show. Like I said, not as cutting edge as I like but still very cool. Im not getting any vibes about a second season. I think the Iron Man anime from a couple years ago met the same fate. Anime just doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I wish Peter Chung (Aeon Flux; Animatrix) had done this. His anime is my favorite.

Watching it now in the Japanese language. I tried watching it in English, but Perrineau's voice is a little distracting. Every time he speaks it's hard not to think of the actor in a soundbooth doing ADR. Maybe it's just his sound levels are badly mixed, or he just wasn't the best casting choice.
