I didn't buy Cranston's character being so open to the paragliding

Am I remembering incorrectly? Isn't that how he became disabled? He had just spent awhile in a really down mood, and yeah, he'd be happy to see his friend, but I just don't think it realistic that he'd have been that open to paragliding.

In real life this actually happened and he continues to paraglide today.

Its entirely realistic. People who injure / disable / cripple themselves doing a sport they love keep doing it wherever possible

Motor racers,
skiers
skydivers
etc
