So that's why it made a little more sense for him to ask Daniel to be part of his team at the end too. Vampires just can't stay away from the ladies and that was his downfall I guess.

At the very least, Charles knew what Steven was. The scene where he goes up the rope upside down has to be a hint that he was not an average human being.
