Has anyone noticed...

That Charlie never goes by any other character name? On two and a half men his characters name was Charlie and it's the same with this show. He's always the only one who uses his own name on his shows.

Sorry if there's another thread on this, but I've always wondered why that is and don't know if anyone addressed it. It's just odd to me.

His character on Spin City was also named Charlie.

I wonder why that is though! The only time he doesn't use his real name on-screen is in movies. Maybe it's his ego.

Tim Allen goes by his first name in 2 different tv shows he's starred in

This isn't unique to Sheen, by any means. Lucille Ball used Lucy or variations of it in several shows. Bob Newhart did it in The Bob Newhart Show and Bob - but didn't use his first name in Newhart. Ray Romano used his first name in Everybody Loves Raymond and Seinfeld used his name in that show.

It does seem to be a sit-com thing involving a comedian who is known by his name and will be the central character. Sheen may be unique in that regard, but the practice certainly is not.
