converting to Islam is ONLY the second dumbest thing you've ever done

Don't you think that is pushing it?
Tyson was being bagged on all night, but I think that went a little too far. Tyson had an upset look on his face.

Not at all. Christianity is made fun of in a LOT of movies all the freakin' time. It's delightful to see a joke about Islam.

reply

movies, tv shows, cartoons, stand-ups, etc

so God and Jesus can take it, but Allah and Muhammad can't?

reply

God and Jesus have good senses of humors and believe in forgiveness and turning the other cheek, but Allah and Muhammad are both vengeful <radio edit> who have foul senses of humor. ROFL

reply

I think Americans have been programmed to find anything said offensive to blacks as somehow cringe-worthy, even at a roast. It was a roast, people. White people get slaughtered at these things and never complain.

reply

I think some of you misunderstood me. Im not saying anything about the religion of islam, i am talking about how someone is making fun of someone else's faith in general directly to their face.

How would you like it if someone told you that you were an idiot for being christian, muslim, jew etc. And that you should convert and you will regret being the religion that you are.

But that's what the point of the roast is don't you see? NOTHING is off limits, and that's what a lot of people like about them. It's a break from having to watch people worry about being politically correct. They can say whatever they want and everyone understands it's just words and it's in jest. If someone doesn't like it, that's OK too. No one has to laugh or even watch and you can say you wish they hadn't said something, but you can't say they "shouldn't" have said it.

And my point is that's done to Christians all the time. In movies, often the dumbest characters are the devout Christians. On the Internets, everyone thinks it's hip to say they're an atheist.

Nope, you can't make fun of Muslims, that's discriminatory. You can't EVER make fun of Jews, that's anti-Semitic. Heck, some Jews probably find my last sentence anti-Semitic. LOL

But with Christians, it's "huntin' season".

The double standard IS mildly humorous, actually.

Cheers,

if he joked about converting from visa to amex being the 3rd dumbest thing he's ever done? that would be truly blasphemous!

I refer you to the so called "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy before you play the whiny "Christians have it so hard in this country" card.

reply

No whining. It's a fact that Christians are made fun of in this country. They are often the brunt of jokes and lampooned in many a movie. Are Muslims made fun of in Riyadh, Jeddah, or Mecca? Just curious.

reply

absolutely NOT.....the ISlAM religion and the countries it resides are the most backward people ever....They have shown zero progress on 100 years and just have no sense of human rights and women rights we all know is non existent....

How can anyone stand up for ISLAM...that is like taking 100 steps backwards in all the equality America has fought for...its not like this is some new wave peace loving religion....

Imagine a women standing up for Muslims....

reply

I don't think that joke made the UK edit either....

... as is all organised religion, old or new.

It's a roast, nothing should be off limits. Nothing should be sacred. It'd be different if the setting was anywhere else, sure. Nobody wants to be told that their personal philosophy is bullcrap, but in a roast you can't take anything personally.

reply

Don't take it personally, because he's not aiming at you or anyone.

Take it for what is is, comedy, humour.
