I did enjoy this more than I expected to, not that I'd rush to see it again. The story is simple and predictable (pigs steal eggs, birds get eggs back)--like a short expanded into a full-length feature. The various main character birds are all charming enough to make it worth a watch, imo. Terrence (the huge one who mostly just growled...in Sean Penn's growl-voice, evidently) was one of my favorites, lol. Glad he got with Matilda (though you knew it was coming from the moment he painted the two of them.) And Red's arc is kinda heartwarming. I found him very relatable. xD But on the whole, my favorite aspect of the film is the background design (e.g., the interior of Red's house and his yard at the end, and the "Lake of Wisdom.") Seemed as though the most care and effort may have been put into such details.
Afterward I watched Ice Age: Collision Course, which had some oddly interesting new characters and an expanded main cast...but, I think most people can agree that that series jumped the shark at least a couple installments ago. Each one has its plus points and kinda-cool characters, but I don't think anybody really *needed* any of 'em. Angry Birds was similar for me--nothing great, but funny and entertaining enough to make me glad I watched it.
