Powers Boothe best part of the show

Is it me (well, I imagine that it most certainly could be) or was Powers Boothe much more of a force in his lesser role than either Kevin Costner or Bill Paxton in this saga? For me, he seemed to dominate all of the scenes in which he was onscreen. He exuded such power and strength and his was the only character which I wanted more of when the six hours concluded. Maybe it was just a perfect role for him, but I thought that he was great.

....see Southern Comfort and Red Dawn..he has a way of doing that. Very good actor!

Don't forget "Guyana Tragedy:The Story of Jim Jones" and "Tombstone".

He's always been one of my favorite actors. Was a nice surprise to see him in this. He had some really good scenes.

SPOILER ALERT!!
Was really shocked when his character turned himself in.

I never saw "Red Dawn" because it looked so awful. I'm sure he was worth watching, though.

o hells yeah...Curly Bill Brosius...

"I feel just ...capitol!"

he was not in Red Dawn very long

He is very good in Frailty (also with Bill Paxton).

reply

Yes, he's great in Tombstone. You quoted one of my favorite lines of the film.

He had a forceful role on 'Deadwood'. He was really unlikable.

I think he was just excellent as Al Haig in Oliver Stone's 'Nixon' from '95.

I thought he was one of the highlights of Hatfields & McCoys. Too bad the character in real life was not as honorable.

Frank: Just a man.
Harmonica: An ancient race.

I hear ya!

I'd say there are a number of characters that in real life were not as honorable as portrayed in this series. Still enjoyed it, of course.

So you had Powers Boothe, who worked with Bill Paxton on "Tombstone"; and Mare Winningham who starred as Mattie with Costner in "Wyatt Earp". I wonder if they ever spent a lunch break doggin' each other out about who had the better Wyatt Earp Movie.

reply

I just love ol' Powers. He's awesome in everything i've seen him, from the old days of Walter Hill movies all the way to Deadwood and now H&M. One of my all time favourites and one of the few that can make a *beep* movie watchable.

Yeah I agree totally. Boothe along with Berenger blew everyone else off the screen. Amazing actor, amazing screen presence.

He reminded me an old Gregory Peck!

As far as I'm concerned, Powers Booth dominates most of the scenes he's in - even if you go back to Tombstone in '93

Agreed, his deep voice was commanding and he exhibited a powerful yet intelligent persona.
