Personally I think Paxton pulled off the better performance, but something deep in my gut tells me Kevin will win the Emmy. Paxton has always been shoved to the side, and while Costner has also been ignored and hated, he also won Best Picture for Dances With Wolves, which was horribly overrated. If Costner doesnt win it, then neither one of them will.

I hate to see them pitted up against each other...doesn't seem fair, but my vote goes to KC hands down...and DWW was not in the least bit over rated nor is KC hated. I wish posters like you would quit assuming that--if anything he's more popular than ever!

You are so wrong! The worst best pic nominee? If that were the case, which it is NOT, then why did it win? That is bull. Goodfellas was the worst of the worst...shouldn't have even been nominated at all. Who the heck is Henry and June? And when you say "we ALL" don't group everybody in that because that is far, far from the truth. It makes me angry some people try to steal the Oscar awards from DWW and KC. Stop wasting your time. It's in the history books and there's nothing you can do about it.

SO your saying that Ghost is a better film than Dances with wolves??Not that i hate Ghost i think its a good chick flick but in no way is it better than Dances with wolves.I dont think that ghost is even worthy to be in dances with wolves league or in the league in any of the other films nominated in that category..

Hate to break it to you "sonomadude" but Henry and june wasnt nominated for best picture ..It was nominated for best cinematography and as far as i know it was its only oscar nomination..

In terms of Dances with wolves Awakenings godfather part 3 and goodfellas you can argue what film should have won but you cannot say it won easily...All those films there are very good and even though dances won it didnt win easily..Its a very hard group of films to pick which is the best because they are all very different unique and entertaining films in their own right..

still though im glad to see dances with wolves winning best picture...But why? Goodfellas and Awakenings were two very well made films with intriguing characters and brilliant writing. DWW is an hour too long, and goes on forever and ever. It's a painfully dull movie, and Kevin Costner is among the most boring and emotionless actors working. I just wanted to smack him in the face and yell "Wake up!" because it seemed like he was half asleep. Also, being half Native American and very interested in my culture, there were dozens of Hollywood fictionalizations of Native American practices that were totally wrong and nearly offensive. Overall, this movie was like watching four hours of Kevin Costner just waking up and mowing his lawn, because there sure is a lot of grass in this movie. Lots and lots of grass.
And the Emmy for Best Actor in a Miniseries goes to: KEVIN COSTNER...and also the Golden Globe and the Actor's Guild Award... Seems like you've nowhere to run, sono...dissing Dances With Wolves (winner of SEVEN ACADEMY AWARDS AND TWO GOLDEN GLOBES AND SCORES OF OTHERS)is not acceptable on this thread or any other. It's difficult to know. Kevin and Bill both did a great job. I hope we hear a lot about this show at the Emmys. A good post Civil War era mini-series is hard to come by.
