Colin Firth's cameo?

I just watched this movie and on the scene Jane gets seated in the back of the carriage after arriving to Austenland you see another carriage with a "woman" sitting in the back of it. Jane looks deeply puzzled after seeing this person; it looks like a man in drag mostly .... The first impression I got is that this could be Colin Firth's cameo. If you look closely that Woman/man looks a little a lot like him-but in drag. I wonder if this was done on purpose and he's actually in the movie but not credited :). Anyone else noticed this?

Blimey, that does look like him!
Jane's expression when she crosses paths with that carriage is odd. I just assumed she's reacting to how she must appear when she sees someone in the same situation - the poor lass with the Copper Package on the footboard of the carriage.
But her reaction seems more puzzled than downtrodden.

I just paused it on that scene and it really does look like Colin Firth. So similar that it's hard to deny now. Very tall woman otherwise, and without makeup, and a dead ringer for Mr. Firth. I wonder if that's him.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one hehe! Now, We really need to find out :)

Good eye! I would never have caught that myself, but it sure does look like him. (If it's a woman, I hope she doesn't find out that we think she looks like Colin Firth in drag!)

Where did you find information on a Firth cameo? He's not in the cast list as an uncredited cameo or in the trivia section.

Although I have to say I've watched this movie about 10 times and hadn't noticed until this post. I paused it and the 'lady' does look mannish.

That building is also a Starbucks?

Yes.

Hmm, from a USA Today review:

Austenland screenwriter and director Jerusha Hess says the filmmakers (including producer Stephenie Meyer) "giggled" about the idea of bringing Firth on board for a cameo appearance but gave up on the concept before even asking. Yet his Darcy looms large.

So I guess not after all. The woman did remind me of him but maybe it was just the power of suggestion, since I never paused to take a closer look till reading this thread.

It's funny I read this thread, and then the following day found the movie playing on cable. I saw that scene, and I didn't think the woman looked anything like Firth. I think the whole look thing was just that Jane herself was being made to ride on the outside seat just like that woman and the woman did not look like she'd had too much fun during her stay, so it probably made Jane a bit nervous about her prospects.

I'm so ugly...that's ok 'cause so are you.

I believe the Colin Firth 'cameo' they're referring to is the life size cardboard Mr. Darcy from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice mini-series. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112130/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_53

That's the only CF cameo I noticed.🐭
