5.4 rating?

Oh come on people! That's waaaay too low. This is the most refreshing k-horror I've seen in years. It changes up enough from the regular formula to make things interesting. The lead is smokin' hot, the main song is addictively catchy, unique scary ghost, and the ending actually makes sense which is really atypical for k-horror. I'd give White a solid 8 only losing points because it was slow at parts, and did still borrow some cliches.

Personally I gave it a ten. One of the best horrors ever.

The reason it have such low ratings is because a lot of people reason like this. It is an Asian films with a female ghost. There are other Asian films with female ghosts. This mean the film isn't original and because of that it is bad.

With such reason would every, crime film, romantic comedy and slasher be considered extremely bad because of their so called lack of originality.

I gave it a 4 and I'll be honest, the movie isn't that good. The setting is quite well thought, and the idea of an horror movie involving idols in Korea was quite appealing, there was room for a very good movie here, but in the end the movie wasn't good at all. Here is my list of problems with it:
-Every horror scene has already been done before. And those mirror scenes over and over again have been so over exploited that they are not really scary anymore. Too cliché on the scary parts.
-Badly written support cast. every character is either likable or unlikable in the first 15 seconds of appearing, there's little character development and when there is some character development it sounds forced and badly written.
-Badly acted. Besides the lead actress most of the cast really didn't show much depth, then again the lines they were given weren't that amazing neither.
-Bad soundtrack. For a movie about korean idols they could do much better than the music that was presented, the singing was particularly bad...
-Bad editing. I don't know if there were scenes cut, but it really feels like it, there are some scenes which appear to fall out of the sky into the middle of the movie.
-5 different twists on the second part of the movie, particularly the changing in character of the lead actress, it made absolutely no sense and it tires you, plus it wasn't that original.

Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed watching it to some extent, it's not an horrible movie, but it is not a good one, and the leading actress is what saves this movie for most part, and even that was kind of ruined in the last 10 minutes.

Overall it is below than average in my opinion.

I agree with the OP. This was really well done. So often, Korean horror films are really hard to follow, filled with beautiful metaphor, but some times it is just lost on me. Also, as an American watching this film, the cultural differences in this versus other Korean horror films was less drastic. Some times I have a hard time understanding character motivation that is steeped in Korean culture and etiquette.

All in all, I would have given this at least a 7.

Bam said the lady.

I dunno, I watched Acacia, Cello, Death Bell 1 and 2, The Wig, Unborn But Forgotten, The Doll Master and Dead Friend. Didn't thought they're hard to follow at all.

Also, most of them explained what was going on in the end.

Very solid story, easy to follow, not convoluted, good acting, good pacing, a little slow maybe at times, makes it feel really long, great effects though, not overdone, solid direction too.
