Why do we need this when we have the news?

"Why not? Art imitates life. Thus art imitates life." Real art is transcendant,your supposed to transcend lifes meaning to a universal truth through art. "Art imitating life" and vice versa is a contradiction of what real art is. Imitation is just that your mimicking life ;which is perpetuating more of the same thing in life.Pretty sure that was the reason for the question asked.
How is what is on the News artistic ? how is taking what you saw on the news and replicating in a movie transcendent?.Why not just tape highlights of the news and do commentary of them.@rgcustomer is that what you were getting at with your question?.

The answer in my opinion as to why is that it's easy and it requires little creativity.As well as a chance for any aspiring film making and up and coming actor/actress. To work and get their name out there ;is that the answer you were looking for ?.Also,this type of material sells and maybe people are just to gulliable to realize that.What they can watch on tv at night for free their paying to go watch pretty people do on the big screen.The allure maybe as well as good marketing .

It deals with issues and mores while "..Underrated? are you serious what's so underrated about it ? it deals with issues ,which issues would those be?;If you wanted to see programming that had horror violence gore etc.As well as Dealing with serious issues ,theres no place better than the news.If your looking to view and the former and be entertained. Then yeah a horror movie would be what you want,
