Why quit when it's the best forum for their skills?

Season after season these two made comedy gold. Their show displayed their talents in a way no other forum could or will ever do. It was theirs and they were getting more and more noterity for it. What could possibly be next for them that would give them even a fraction of the satisfaction of the variety of characters and skits that let them flex their creatively so magnificently? They are great in the bit guest star roles they've been doing independently, but nothing about those seem like they'd be satisfying to their career. I hear they might do a Key and Peele movie (like Monty Python and Kids In The Hall did), but it'd just focus on one character like the substitute teacher.

They seem to be like Bill Watterson quitting Calvin and Hobbes at the height of their fame. Obscurity and really early retirement seems to be what Watterson was looking for, but I don't think that is in their minds. I don't know what pot of gold they think is around the corner, but it was already in their hands.

Personally, I'd rather they quit on top rather than be an embarrassment that makes fans long for the early days. Cases in point: Seinfeld, Friends, Simpsons, Community, Arrested Development.

Unfortunately, they are already past that. People have been complaining for a while now about missing the old K/P.

I would agree but this show barely got started. It was still getting good it's feet off the ground and they are absolutely hilarious.

It's a shame and very similar to Dave Chappelle who I like to think was a major influence to them

Seinfeld was always an A+ except for maybe the finale

Pretty certain that they have done way better in the career path that they have chosen than you have done in yours and I don't even know you. Just by the way you wrote that comment it seems as if you are a very unhappy person on the inside and at times probably hate yourself. That is why you will externally lash out at other people that are doing better than you are as you know you will never rise above the mediocrity that is, was, and will continue to be your life. It's a dead give away when there is a thread of people who are speaking to each other nicely and considerately, whether they agree with each other or not, and then see comments by one person spouting *beep* just to annoy people. Get a life.

No, Bill Watterson quit because he didn't want Calvin and Hobbes to end up a watered down blah comic, as most comic strips become, just like TV shows. I'm sad of what has become of comic strips like The Piranha Club and so many others, or the way The Phantom comic strip was from the late 70's until 1999, when Lee Falk died and and new creators took over.
