A VERY Obscure Reference

I'm watching the series again on hulu and just finished episode 1 of season 3, which is entitled "Gigolo H-O-R-S-E". During the H-O-R-S-E game at the Gigolo House, host Marc XYZ (played by Paul Scheer) introduces a challenge which will judge the guys on how well they can lie to someone about what they do for a living. Special guests are brought in for the challenge, and they turn out to be...the guy's AUNTS! This is obviously a deliberate and very obscure reference made by somebody working on the show, because there is a power-pop band, formed in the 1980s but supposedly still out there, called The Gigolo Aunts. I'd like to know who the fan(s) is/are on the show, because whoever it is, they created a bizarre premise in order to work in that obscure joke.
