A review from Singapore

By my standards, it's great fun to watch and, although the first part of this pair of tai chi fantasies is not strictly speaking steampunk (only the track-laying machine is an anachronism), the martial arts sequences are terrific. For a full review, see:

This movie is bad, the martial arts is suck and the characters are boring :( 3/10

As a matter of interest, which martial arts film is the best?

Old thread, but maybe somebody will read it and wonder about better Chinese movies (because Tai Chi 0 sucks, and I say this as a fan of kung fu movies):
- For a better scenario, watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- For better cinematography, watch Hero
- For better kung fu, watch Fearless
- For better tai chi, watch Tai Chi Master
- For better humor, watch The Legend of Drunken Master

Few would dare disagree that classic wuxia films like Crouching Tiger are good but they don't come along all that often and, while we wait for the next classic, the first in the Tai Chi series is an amusing way of passing the time in front of a big screen. It's not pretending to be the best and the second in the series definitely isn't the best, but I found it good value for my money.
