Question about the ending...(Major spoilers ahead)

Hi everyone. I have just finished watching this film and wondered if my interpretation about the strained equation between Eeshwar and Lopa and Atul and Eeshwar is correct. Any further insight or observations from other users would be very much appreciated.

Am I right in thinking that in the past Lopa had cheated on Eeshwar with his old friend Brijesh and as a result Atul's biological father was really Brijesh rather than Eeshwar? Initially I had the theory that Eeshwar and Brijesh may have been a closeted homosexual couple, however the final scene of Eeshwar seeing his old friend in Atul as he was leaving for his honeymoon appeared to dispel this and confirm that the truth about his parentage had been hidden from Atul for his entire life. Eeshwar did appear to be the birth father of the younger son Jay however.

Yes, that was my interpretation as well. That was also the reason why Eeshwar did not treat Atul well all his life.

Hi aztellafriend. Thank you very much for your response to my query. I'd given up hope after making the initial post so long ago.

Just watched this movie. I think this is exactly what happened... the painting story that Lopa recounted to Vina's parents, and then their conversation in the car, also implied what had happened. And ever since then Brijesh wasn't in their lives (I don't know whether he died but I'm assuming he left once he found out Lopa was pregnant perhaps....). I also couldn't tell whether Eeshwar actually properly knew or not, or maybe he suspected, but then he truly realised at the end, hence Lopa telling him she was sorry. :(
