British Accents? *le sigh*

Well lead actor is so gorgeous I couldn't wait for Syfy.. Cute show.. I love Arabian Nights and I LOVE LOVE LOVE british accents, But...... considering it's supposed to take place in the middle east.. well the actors could have at least Attempted to sound more middle eastern. :-/ It's completely distracting considering the surroundings. In spite of how sexy I think british accents are. I'm only 5 mins in.. but, come on? I guess film makers don't take much of anything seriously these days. :-/ :-(

I love Naveen Andrews and this new Elliot Knight guy is crazy beautiful.. that they couldn't at least mildly attempt more accurate accents or tone down the british ones is extremely disappointing. What are directors and actors thinking these days, that something like that does not matter?

I don't get these complaints about accents - Sinbad, The Borgias, any show really set in a foreign land. The characters in Sinbad, if they were real, wouldn't be speaking modern English: the audience is supposed to accept the fact that all the lines have been translated into modern English, because it is the language of the target audience (and the show's writers). Why would the translation include fake accents? How would that be better?

I guess it's a matter of taste, but after seeing Vikings, in which accents, fake and real (the cast is pretty international) are all over the place, I am more than ever grateful for series and movies who do not require of their actors to attempt fake accents.

Yeah, the show is really very good after the first few minutes.. Great music, fx, acting.. I didn't notice them as much any more after that. It's just that in the first 5 minutes they stuck me as Really strong and out of place. I guess you can get used to it, but it's how out of place they seemed in the beginning. If the show didn't have any other redeeming qualities, it might be more annoying.

I'm actually kind of sad it's been cancelled now. I guess I just meant to tone it down a touch.. I'm not into fake sounding accents. Just like for the voices to not seem extremely out of place.

That was my first impression. But after watching the entire show I really like it.

Let's look at the bright side. If the nitpick police can find nothing more serious to complain about than accents, the show is off to a good start.

Cute show yes, sad that it didn't last as I thought it had potential. As for the accents, perhaps this is because it was a UK program?
