The ending threw me off.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie even if it is not Pixar’s best.

But I don’t understand what Arlo did to earn putting his mark in the granary. That he survived falling into a river and came back?

The mark was supposed to be about doing something bigger than himself. If it was saving Spot, I am not convinced. It’s clear that Dinosaurs in this Universe don’t care about humans.

Everyone got their mark by contributing to the farm. He did nothing like that. I half expected that he would bring the berries and plant them in the farm, giving the family enough food for the winter.

That would have made more sense.

Agreed, Arlo coming back empty-handed wasn't heroic and didn't deserve a "mark", he was just going to be another mouth to feed when food was short, and one that did more harm than good.

This movie looked great, it's as close as I'll ever get to seeing the Rocky Mountains unaffected by humans and all their ills, but the story sucked.
