Enough with the formulaic animated movies

Now animation movies have also become a borefest

Below is the formula:

1) Character A is a loser by birth

2) Character A meets unusual but likeable Character B

3) A and B don't like each other at first

4) Sometime in between, A undergoes a personal tragedy too

5) A and B embark on an unplanned journey

6) A and B become friends on the journey

7) They meet the following FORMULAIC characters:

- Character C who is a comedian
- Character D who is a villain
- Character E who doesn't like A and B before, but later helps/saves them

8) Finally, Character B goes to live with their own family

9) Character A returns to their home, now a Winner and achiever

10) The End

Congrats, you've broken down how formulaic The Good Dinosaur is. Now can you name at least 5 animated films of the past three years that also follow this exactly? If you can't, this ends up being a nonsense post.

I think the answer would be "Every animation movie"

Ice Age did this trope first, and that was 15 years ago

I see plenty of animation movies and this is not true. Sorry, need some specifics here or my original point stands.

Buddy check my post in Finding Dory boards

Don't you tell me now this post of mine wasn't anything but genius

@Mystery fan

Let me guess...you're a Minions and Madagascar fan.

Am I right or am I right?

reply

Minions was decent

I hate Madagascar, can't stand that movie series

Inside Out isn't like that. That one is different.

Also anime films are different than that too.

As I was watching The Good Dinosaur, I kept thinking, "I swear I've seen this exact same movie before." There was absolutely nothing new or original about it.

reply

Sadly most films are far too formulaic these days.
Too predictable.
