Bo Peep *Spoilers*

I love the Toy Story movies, and I love Bo Peep, but did anybody else find her character to be bitchy in this one? She was so sweet and loving towards Woody in the first and second movie, and was pretty mean to him in this one, and was even going to leave Forky behind.

reply

She is empowered now. Modern female empowerment means you become an insensitive bitch. There is no room for sweetness and loving nature with modern empowered women. Those are tools of the patriarchy employed to keep women weak.

reply

Nothing wrong with being empowered. That was kind of cool, I just hated that they made her into a bitchy character.

reply

But in modern cinema women cannot have empowerment AND a sweet, loving feminine nature. All empowered women in movies must be arrogant and masculine.

reply

You must not watch the same movies I do. Empowerment embraces love and compassion.

reply

Hilarious.

reply

I don't even know what to say to that. Empowering means to become stronger and better equipped to handle things. Showing someone love and compassion can help the individual have more confidence, take more chances, learn and grow. Not sure why you would find any of that to be "hilarious."

reply

agreed. that person is just lost.

Bo Peep only seems "bitchy" now because she says more and does more and has a mind of her own and isn't a "yes girl" behind Woody or Buzz.

reply

"But in modern cinema women cannot have empowerment AND a sweet, loving feminine nature. All empowered women in movies must be arrogant and masculine."

Lol, this is kinda accurate in real life as well. Most girls I dated were all arrogant bitches in a way or another. My current girlfriend is kinda sweet, but still have some bitchy tendencies here and there.

reply

THATS SO WEIRD...ALL THE WOMEN YOU DATE END UP BEING BITCHY TOWARDS YOU....SUCH A MYSTERY.

reply

Yeah, yeah, the classic "if everyone around you is the problem, you are the problem " . I get it, you are not original. And it might very well be it, I don't deny that. I'm not exactly the greatest guy ever neither.

Now, put this aside, what I said wasn't only about my personal experiences, it was also personal observations and having many people (including women btw) who agree with my statement. If you want to be a white knight, be my guest, but I suggest you to not be a total fuckwit about it next time.

On another hand, I sense that you are quite proud about this "burn" so I'll let you have it.

reply

OK,YOU CONVINCED ME...ALL WOMEN ARE BITCHES.HEY,WE SHOULD START A CLUB...WE COULD CALL IT THE HE-MAN WOMAN HATERS CLUB...THAT HAS A NICE RING TO IT.

reply

OKay, I got it already, you're a troll and I don't even know why I bother answering to you... But, didn't you realize that my post wasn't trying to convince anyone at all, I just gave my opinion. I couldn't give two shits about what other people think about this matter.

reply

YOU DEDICATED TWO POSTS TO CONVINCING EVERYONE THAT ALL WOMEN ARE INHERENTLY BITCHES WITH PERSNALITY DEFECTS,YET I AM THE TROLL...IN CASE YOU HADNT NOTICED KIDDO..THE TROLLS ARE ALWAYS THE ONES CALLING OUT OTHERS FOR BEING A "TROLL"

reply

1. Writing everything in Caps Lock doesn't make your text more convincing. In fact, it makes you look like a moron who raises his voice thinking that this will give to his stupid more credibility.

2. None of my posts were meant to convince shit. If you are minimally educated you should know the difference between a statement that is persuasive and an opinion (I'm not sure that you call them such in English, I don't live in an English speaking place). If I wanted, for some obscure reasons, to convince someone that my statement is the truth and I was right to think so, I would have wasted my time giving arguments like many people do here. No, I started my post by using a doubtful work like "kinda", which already I'm not even sure what I'm talking about.

3. In the second post, I even admitted (indirectly) that in my first statement I might have sounded a bit like it was the ultimate truth and admitted that you might be right. So yeah... it was written to argue that I'm right....

4. I just said that this OPINION is shared by some people I know. I didn't pretend anywhere in any shape that everyone thinks like that. I actually know way more people who totally disagree with this mindset.

5. Even if you are right and that I'm the asshole in this story (which, once again, is highly possible), you have no fucking way to know it. You don't me, you don't know my past, you don't know the people I know and you don't know what kind of relationships I've had. It doesn't matter if you are right or not, you couldn't possibly know anyways. So, automatically jump to the conclusion that I attacked all the women and said that they are all bitches (even though I said "most" not "every"(and once again I really feel like I exaggerated)) simply makes you look like an idiot who might need to learn to read and get off his high horses.

Here, great, I wasted my time again on you. Ah well, I'm bored and have nothing better to do anyways.

reply

IM NOT YELLING...I TYPE IN CAPS(20YEARS OR SO)….I DIDNT READ ALL THAT HYPERBOLE CRAP IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR POST.YOU KNOW WHAT YOU SAID AND IMPLIED,YOU CAN EASE BACK POST BY POST NOW.YOU EXAGERATED GREATLY AND THAT WAS THE IDIOT MOMENT,NOT ME TAKING OFFENSE,WETHER I EXPRESSED MYSELF ENTIRELT ACCURATELY OR NOT.

reply

Yes, I said that IN WITH MY OBSERVATIONS,most women(not "all") tend to be bitchy. I'm quite comfortable with admitting that.

However, I admit that I can be wrong. Since when is admitting his mistakes deserves this kind of resentment?

I may had had an idiot moment, I talked too fast without thinking it trought (I tend to speak too fast with emotions). But you had an idiot moment when you simply decided to be a little bitch about it. And there again, who never talked out of his ass in his whole life?

NO ONE SINCE ACE VENTURA WAS RELEASED.

I didn't think she was a week figure before, so I found this transformation very confusing.

reply

She’s been hardened by life fed on the streets :-)

She was a bit too hardened at the beginning (though my SIL called her “saucy”), but she found some balance towards the end.

reply

Yes, exactly right. It’s pretty transparent that they changed her character because of changing social norms around feminism, but that doesn’t make me angry the way it seems to with so many other people.

What’s funny to me is how in the process of putting her in pants and so on, I ended up finding her really sexy. Is that wrong? LOL

reply

I kept waiting for Woody and Bo to kiss in this movie and it didn't happen.

reply

Yup, and she abandons Woody more than I would have thought.

reply

She's a feminist

reply

I'm just glad Annie Potts is still working.

reply

They couldn't have a delicate, sensitive female character in 2019, not a good role model for young girls apparently. What's offensive about it is how the character bares no resemblance to her previous appearances.

reply

That's the problem with society today, too many parents seem to think characters in movies should be role models for their kids. Once upon a time you wanted your kids to have rea live people as role models, people that were actually good... now people are using flawed cartoon as a role model for thier kids... and people wonder why society if going down the toilet.

reply

I agree with you both. She completely ruined the movie for me. She and she alone. She stole Buzz’ screen time and, hey, Jess is another female character and they didn’t use her. In fact, they didn’t use any of the original characters as much as they should have, so the division of screen time is this: Woody=30%, Buzz and co.=10%, Forky, Gabby and Key & Peele characters =10%, and frickin Bo Peep=70%. Yes, my math is wrong, but so is her whole character transformation and presence in the movie. The more I think about it, the angrier I feel. Why must they keep pushing this agenda that only women who are bold and out there, being Boss-Ladies and making things happen the ideal woman? What’s wrong with the quiet strength of a warm and gentle woman? Even if Bo Peep was a minor character in the previous instalments, she was actually my favourite character because she paired nicely with Woody adventurous personality. She had that softness that really did a great job highlighting Woody as the main character—not because he’s a MALE character, but because he actually IS the MAIN character. Gah. I was internally yelling, “Woody, leave her!” Male or female, who’d want that kind of company?

reply

To be honest I barely remember her from the earlier movies.
