All the Bonnie hate is ridiculous

She lost interest in a toy, which literally every kid has done. It would be fine if the toys weren't sentient, which she had no idea they were. What was she supposed to do, torture herself by forcing herself to play with a toy she doesn't want to play with?

reply

That's true in the real world. But in the Toy Story saga, it was powerful and emotional when Andy passed Woody on to Bonnie. The audience wants to believe Bonnie would love and take care of Woody forever because they love him, too. This movie wipes out the importance of that scene. People don't literally hate Bonnie, they hate how it was written.

reply

Yeah, the OP clearly doesn’t understand this, the movie went right over his head.

If anything, one would think the conclusion was written for people who became Toy Story fans back in 1995 (rather than people who are just starting to watch now), who you would think would be old and mature enough by now to understand that people grow and that their priorities change over time.

I have not seen evidence of that on this board.

Same goes for holding Bonnie to any kind of adult standard. I've even seen someone on here proclaim her hypocritical. I don't think any of these people realize how absurd they sound.

Bonnie's a kid, and as far as she knows her toys are just pieces of cloth, plastic, etc. It really doesn't require more explanation than that. Kids have their favorite toys and Woody wasn't Bonnie's. No more explanation needed, really.

I thought the writing was fine.

What the hell would I do with all the toys I ever had as a kid if I had saved them all? I sent a boxfull to the landfill a couple of months ago. I'm sure they're all lying around there crying, trying to figure out a way to escape and come back to kill me.

reply

Be careful what you wish for, lol.

reply

To the landfill, and beyond.
