He just seems like a very out of place plot device,let’s think of a new character for the movie: uhh how about a spork that was made in kindergarten art class... lol

Forky was critical - his existential crisis was what made Woody realize what it truly meant to be a toy.

Forky was a treasured toy who wanted to be trash. Woody knew what it was to be treasured, and not only wanted Forky to appreciate it, but eventually allowed himself to be "trashed" [i.e., gave up his voicebox] so that Gabby could have a chance.

Yes, Forky was a catalyst for Woodys transformation. He was necessary.

New plot:
Daughter finds mommy's dildo in drawer and takes it out then adds googly eyes, a dried up boogers for arms, and a used condom for legs. BAM! It's ALIVE!!!

In the Toy Story universe, both the dildo and condom would recall their earlier purposes before they became toys.

Yeah, that would definitely make an interesting plot - educational too

MY DAUGHTER ALMOST ALWAYS HAS SOME "HOMEMADE TOYS" MIXED IN WITH HER STORE BOUGHT ONES...FORKY MAKES A TON OF A SENSE.
