On DVD yet, or to screen in the USA??

I'm interested in the film, and wondering if it is poing to play in North America, or do I just wait for a DVD release - if it is not yet available?

reply

Supposedly, it's going to be shown at a film festival somewhere on the East Coast. Nothing about a DVD release.

It's available for purchase on both DVD and Bluray through Amazon. I just got my copy in the mail and watched it today. The DVD is pretty cheap, but the BD is kind of on the pricey side, even for an import.

reply

Ah! Those weren't there last time I looked. DVD purchased!

It had its east-premier at Otakon in Baltimore on August 10. It filled the last auditorium at the Baltimore Convention Center. It was very well received I had not seen the original show and loved it.

A steelbook Blu-ray release is available for purchase on Amazon UK.

It will release on February 17th. The price is mostly reasonable and I imagine it will drop after the release date to an even more reasonable price.

I'm rather surprised it has not been given a DVD release in the US yet. Given its success and all, I would think it'd arrive faster. As far as I know, there's still nothing on the horizon about a release date. I have to think it will eventually.

It was shown at fanime 2014 convention at San Jose, California on may 25th

I suspect they are just not that concerned with a U.S. release on DVD or Blu Ray, the UK has a steel book last I heard but so far it seems they don't really care to release this movie in multi media form for people to purchase. They have shown the film at many anime conventions and all have loved this live action film so it's really odd Japan is dragging their feet as Warner Bros. could handle U.S. distrabution.

I hope that anime conventions show movie 2 when it comes out though as many want to see the second film which comes out Aug. 1st 2014.

Really weird that this hasn't come out in the U.S. with a legitimate release.

reply

I'm hoping that after the third one is released on home video that we'll see a U.S. release of all three. I've considered buying the ones available on Amazon or eBay, but I worry about the quality...I don't want to buy a bootleg.
